Messages - BLWDecapods

Last time I checked Hallmark or Empire-Midland mfgd a Baldwin Light Decapod was in the 1980's.
Seems that Strasburg # 90 is the very last operational BLW 2-10-0. However, Alabama, Tenn. & Northern, the Seaboard Air Line, the Osage RR, Woodford Iron, the Georgia, Florida & Alabama operated them when new. Most were owned by the Seaboard in late years because of mergers and buyouts.
The Gainesville Midland operated the last BLW version in regular freight service in June 1959 and in excursion service in Sept. 1959.

Bachmann's Spectrum Russian Decapod was a fine model to bring out in HO. Why not bring the Baldwin Light Decapod out to compliment the Russian ??

Thanks,

HO / Bachmann Plymouth 0-6-0 diesel
November 13, 2009, 04:43:18 PM
Hey Bach Mann,
Just wondering if in this diesel, there might be enough room to move the wheels in and convert it from HO guage to HOn3 ?
Looking for an inexpensive way to get an HOn3 locomotive.
Thanks

General Discussion / HOn3 models

Hey Bach Man,
Now that you have captured the On3 market with the excellent models you have, how's about turning your attention to HOn3.
You already have some really great models to work with: in HO guage your 4-6-0 and 4-4-0, in larger scales, the 2 truck shay, articulated 2-6-6-2, Tweetsie # 12 in G scale and so on.
Just think that if you came out with a mass produced HOn3 line you could capture a fair sized market here too.

Hey Bachmann,
What do I have to do to get a parts guide for the inside framed version of the On30 2-8-0 ?
Thanks,
Hugh

HO / Suggested new model
June 08, 2008, 10:36:27 AM
Mr. Riley,
I am back in HO after a failed stint with S gauge. Already have quite a few of your Spectrum steam locomotive models. Great models for a really decent price.
Would like to suggest that Bachmann take the running gear from an outside frame On30 BLW 2-8-0 and replace the On30 boiler and tender with that which is on your great looking HO gauge  Ma & Pa 4-6-0.
The suggested 2-8-0 was used on the L&N RR, the Southern Rwy, the Central of Georgia RR, the Atlanta & St. Andrews Bay RR, the Mississippi Export RR, the Gainesville Midland RR and a lot of the shortlines that looked for economical power at the waning years of steam.
I have black and white photos of quite a few of these locos in serivice tht I would share with you in the development of a prototypical model.
