General Discussion / Re: bachmann decoder 44915
December 02, 2008, 12:15:58 PM
thank's,the  decoder instructions say that "except for allocating address and direction E_ZCOMMAND is unable to program decoder cv's"so i think  with dynamis i should be able to reprogram.it also lists supporte cv's.i.e. cv 1,2,3,4,7,8,17,18,19 as well as 29,50 ,51 and 52.it provides  the default and min.-max.numbers.since i am new to cv programming and have no readback can you tell me exactly how to input.i.e.do i need to input the bit number one or zero and the dash, then the value?.instructions for cv 29 says default value decimal 6,( ist that 06 or 0.6 ?),decoder configuration byte 1.then it lists the bit numbers 1 to 8 and the default for each.
it says bits are counted beginning with '1'.under cv 2 (starting voltage min0 to max 31) it shows def as 10 .does that mean 1 and then 10??
i can program addresses and lok number either way, services track or maintrack.at this point i am simply trying to experiment with cv 3 and 4 i.e acceleration and deceleration for more realistic stops and starts.

thank's;iam running  scale TT (1/120)with a fairly new piko(germany)diesel electric which  runs very welll and had  the 8 pin receptor factory installed.i plugged in the decoder which i purchased here.i do not know whether my  reprogramming of cv 8 to value 8  registered because i do not have the dynamis pro so i can not read the value that resides in cv 8.i program on maintrack and have done so for a while.there are several loks programmed so i do not which to reset the dynamis.all loks are running good and  this problem only happend  after i was trying to tweak cv2,3,and 4 in order to see what  effect  it would have  i.e.starting voltage, acceleration and deceleration.this lok runs well now as lokomotive 03(default) however as i mentioned i  seem to be unable to change name and  lok number.the bachmann decoder 44915 info sheet says that  it can not be programmed so maybe that's it.

thank's.i have tried this several times however  programming cv 8 to value 8 has no effect.in fact at the end the lok stopped running alltogether.i then reset the lok as "new lok"with default 3 and it runs perfect.i however am unable to rename and renumber it since when i do the lok will not run.i of course deleted the old lok name each time.so now  it runs well but only under the default name" lokomotive 00003".why?

thank's.what i  finally did last night was to invoke new lok on track and inputting the number 3.so in fact running the decoder default all of them have.this worked fine and the lok  runs perfect/i then deleted the old lok name and number.however, when i tried to rename the default name and number the lok will not run.then going back to default new lok 03 the lok runs.i tried to rename it three times however it seems not to be possible, why?as you suggested i tries to input  the value 8 on cv 8 without success.volker

hallo,my name is volker and i am posting from calgary, alberta, canada.congrats to your excellent choice for pres.of the US of A.
i have run my electro diesel lok scale TT (yes TT) with this  bachmann decoder for some time.i thought i was getting good at this so i tried to reprogram some cv values on the bachmann dynamis which operates my layout.bad move of course since now by lok  will slow  down intermittently .as i can not read back what values the various cv are now i seem to be stuck.can anyone tell me please how to reset the decoder to factory set values.the instruction sheet that came with it does not  so indicate???volker in canada(looks like we will need a new government soon also--sooner that you)

General Discussion / Re: bachmann reverse module

thank's jim,i have changed the power feed to the reverse modules fro the bachmann dynamis controller to the main trunk directly and seperately to each module.this seems to help however sporadically one loop control fails.i think you hit the nail on the head by pointing out the importance of the gaps being exactly identical in order to have BOTH wheels hitting the short at the same time.mine  are not that well cut especially on that one spot.so i will work on it and report back.i am also thinking that my  set up may be unorthodox as i  have 2 contact rails for each loop which operate the turnout as the train  crosses the section(activated by a lok wheel ).the problem might be that i have one  cotact track inside the loop and one outside the loop.this might "confuse " the module??this setup makes the operation fully automatic and also lets the train enter the loop ,once left, once from the right without  my intervention .how do you operate the turnouts on the loops?volker

thank's jim.we are still in the blizzard,so i put the golf clubs away again however i was too lazy to get the downhill skis out of the attic ones more.so it's TT modeling, not such a bad activity either,EH?so jim my gaps are  about 10" away from the  turnouts and the lok stalls  as it enters the loop.i.e.at the gap and as it leaves the loop also at the gap.but never both at the same loop.what puzzles me is that this only happens sometimes and seems  worse when the  lok runs backwards.i run a brand new taurus from piko with 8 pin decoder.the lok was dcc ready.i'll check the pick-ups,they are 8 wheels 2 are offset traction wheels and all have contacts.one loop is actually a cross-over or an oval with a diagonal gapped isolated section.i might have done this wrong??the gaps are only in the straight inside section?i have also tried adjusting the amperage at the modules with no real resultd.these are now set between the 1 amps and 2 amps .volker(is the  + - feed to the loop section important)

hi to all,my name is volker and i am new to this forum.i live in calgary, alberta, canada.i started a tt gauge (between  "n" and "HO")recently.all my track ,turnouts  and rolling stock is older "EAST GERMAN" material.i purchased Bachmann Dynamis and  equipped 3 loks with decoders.everything thing runs great until i added two return loops to the layout.the 2 bachmann reversing units operate ok most of the time however every now and then the lok will stop as it enters or  exits  before or after the GAP.does anybody have any idea why this would be.i do not believe  it to be the  metal frogs(powered.)thank's volker
