YES! I mean... yes please.
I'll have several in B&O.
4-6-2 and/or 2-8-2.

Maybe Erie too?
I know. I'm Pushing it.

As noted previously, I hope Bachmann will produce a couple of versions of a Pacific 4-6-2.  Particularly a streamlined P7-d for the B & O and others.  The Model Power are supposed to be good but the lack of free standing detail is a huge turnoff.  In light of the DCC and Sound version of the Pennsy K-4, we might even wish for the Pacifics to have sound and DCC.

Any B&O heavy pacific... P7 variant would be welcome. I would really love a P7-d, or anything after the olive green era.
The Model Power pacific is a strong puller, moderately smooth runner, but all-together rough around the edges. Details and sound are a far cry from Bachmann and the Broadway Limited M1a (which is the best n scale steamer I've ever seen top-to-bottom).
The Bachmann K4 crushes the Model Power 4-6-2 in every measurable way.

Oh- while we are on the topic... How about a DCC/Sound equipped run of the Heavy 4-8-2? Dress one up in B&O as they had a rather nice dual-service prototype in the T3/4. Oh, and also anything that may B&O.

The most glaring omission from the N Scale pantheon right now has to be a quality NYC Hudson.

Honestly, keep making N Scale Steam, keep checking the boxes off... we will all be happy eventually I guess.

Are we starting a new wish list thread? It did work with the K4!

B&O P7 4-6-2 in both standard "President" livery and streamlined "Cincinnatian" livery please.

Oh- or do another run of the "Heavy" mountain with DCC/Sound installed, and look up the B&O T class.

Thank you for your consideration!

The LL/Proto Berks are pretty, well detailed models. Mine don't pull a darn thing though. Esp. on any kind of grade. Plastic shell + no traction tire makes them poor performers. Smooth runners though. Great display locos! My Bachmann NKP berk is better runner over-all, and it comes DCC/Sound equipped.

The nice thing is that if you want to run N scale steam, there has never been a better time to do it! It looks like locos are selling well... so hopefully we are only scratching the surface of things to come!

The Kato mike was the previous "gold standard" for N scale steam... but it was not DCC, and you had to self-install the traction tires.
Model Power makes a nice 2-8-2 with sound, in a good number of roads, comes DCC+sound equipped for a very reasonable price, is a good runner, pulls well, but is detail sparse and a little rough around the edges.

The Con-Cor Hudson was... well... in it's day it was great. But compared to modern top-flight N scale steam, it's a toy. My initial one ran well for about 2 months (purchased new old stock in 2008) and then the left running gear fell off... sent back, Con Cor replaced with a different loco... and it never ran. Luckily one of the scenes of my layout is a RR museum, so it serves a purpose in static display!

The market (are you listening Bachmann?) is in dire need of a quality 4-6-4. An NYC J3 would be an enormous seller, plus the running gear could be re-used for 4-6-4s of many roads. If I were a manufacturer... ahem... I would be prototyping one ASAP.

In all honesty, you've picked a great time to get into N scale.

Bachmann has done a fantastic job upping the ante on N scale steam, with the 2-8-4s, the K4, the EM1... all great models. The recent Broadway Limited PRR M1a is the best out-of-the-box N scale steam loco I've owned...

If you aren't tied to a sound-equipped loco... try to find a Bachmann Heavy Mountain, mine is a fantastic runner and pulls 25 freight cars without problem. If you aren't DCC, their 2-8-0 of a few years ago (if you can find one... both of these sold very well!) and their N&W J are also really really good locos.

My two cents anyway!

You're right, not Samhongsa...
I also miss-typed, Erie K5, not K4.

I'll take a nice 2-8-2 as well. As long as they keep churning out N Scale Steam, I'm all for it!
Never hurts to make up a wish list!

Model Power/MRC all-metal line made by Samhongsa in Korea, have been upgraded with DCC and sound. They are good locos, good runners, but all-in-all pale in comparison to the Bachmann offerings lately (PRR K4, 2-8-4).

Having a good 4-6-2 platform, the options are many.
I'm hoping one day for a good Bachmann P7 model, either streamlined "Cincinnatian" or standard. Pretty much every Class I on the planed used a Heavy 4-6-2 for passenger movement at some point, and most were based on the ALCO 50,000 prototype (including the PRR K4, Erie K4, B&O P7...)

Being a B&O guy (THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for the EM-1 by the way) I'm also salivating for a sound-equipped return of the Heavy Mountain. See B&O T3 class... think it over.

The Model Power/MRC Light Pacific is nice, molded on details, good puller (anything you want over flat track, 8 heavyweights up a 3 percent grade). Sound is not as good as the K4 or Berkshire.
The B&O model comes in green w/ red and gold trim, or with a Vanderbilt tender black on silver.

N Scale steam has come a long way in the last few years, and I think we are just beginning to scratch the surface as to what is possible. A lot of us will buy something even though it's not our "core" focus. All of my diesels are B&O, but I've got steam in many eastern roads (N&W J, PRR, NYC, B&O) and Southern Pacific (the daylight is just too pretty).

N / Re: Why not a PRR K4 like the HO one?

K4 discussion? Is it that time already?
Let's all go back on the record.
I'll have 4.
Then make a general "heavy pacific" that can be done in B&O, Erie, AT&SF, Burlington, SP, Southern, and just about every other railroad that ever existed since nearly every Class A or Trunk line ran heavy pacifics at the heads of their major passenger trains!
I'll have several of those...

N / Re: How about an N-scale DCC NYC Niagara 4-8-4?

I'll have two please.
Along with a K4... and maybe a B&O P7...
Seriously... any big 4-8-4 should be a home run. Reading T1, AT&SF, UP FEF...
Really... how about a Mohawk? The current 4-8-2 could serve as a platform?

N / Re: Question for Bach-man

I was envisioning new boiler castings (big six). Make it a premeir loco, specific to the B&O market.
I suppose the Mohawk would require too much new of everything... pretty much a new model.
Your other idea of an EM-1 would help with the B&O wishes...
Eh... someone will make some of this stuff someday... probably...
#11
Seconded. Anything B&O. It's like N scale manufacturers don't want to admit that it existed...

N / Re: Question for Bach-man

Please don't forget that the NYC ran one heck of a heavy 4-8-2. They called theirs "Mohawks" though. You'd need an NYC tender, add some box-pox drivers... then make several versions. With and without deflectors, later era boiler fronts... Make a couple of road numbers each... I think you'd sell a lot.

It's like the B&O. Why not a heavy 4-8-2 for the B&O? They pretty much ended the steam era on the road as the mainstay along with the EM-1 (which is coming in HO this year... lucky...) T3s and T4s could be easily derived from the current 4-8-2 model.

4-6-0 in B&O would be pretty logical as well...

B&O also had some pretty famous 2-10-2's.

Why make skipgear continue to build his own?

The 2-10-2 will be another winner... Bachmann is on a roll...
But how about a Heavy Pacific in B&O?
Please?

And a K4.

When it comes to the Heavy Pacifics... I guess it really comes down to how much variance you're willing to accept.
From a boiler standpoint... they are pretty similar dimensions. At least close enough to be represented by one N scale piece. If you made the belpaire firebox as an add on detail (factory) like the C&O flying pumps on the mountain. With slight detail tweaks, headlight placement, feedwater heater addition, a couple different sand domes... you could accomodate a ton of roads with the same basic boiler shell and mechanism.
Or start with the K4 and expand it out later... ?

The B&O T3/T4 should be a no brainer... if they are going to continue producing the Heavy Mountain, why not offer it in B&O.
The real want/need for many of us is a heavy pacific. K4, P7 for me, NYC, ATSF, SP, Southern, CP, Erie, C&NW, MLW, Boston & Maine... all ran very similar heavy 4-6-2's based on one (ALCO 55,000) prototype.
A Reading T1 would be nice... NYC Niagra while we're on Northerns...
How about an NYC Mohawk out of the Heavy Mountain? You'd need a tender... but really a B&O P7 needs a bigger tender too...
