I plan to do the same with my 0-4-2 Porter.
Did you install an sound-decoder ? Which one?
Was it difficult to do?  Any particular problems?

Hello ebtrr,

I have got the same problem with my Bachmann Consolidation.
When I contacted the service department at Bachmann they suggested that I sent the loco to them to have the repairs carried out. Because I live in the Netherlands shippingcharges would exegerate to much. Besides that there is a certain risks sending a fragile loco to the US and after repairs back to the Netherlands.
Therefore I asked Bachman to send me a pair of connectors so that I can try to fix it myself. Now I am awaiting the connectors.

With the suggestions Tim Anders gave it should be possible to solve this problem myself.

Hi group.

One of my friends told me that he had to demolish a lot of details on his loco when he tried to lubricate the motor and gears.
Before I lubricate my loco I would like to know if there is a better way to get the grease there.
