HO / D51 2-8-2?
February 08, 2009, 06:17:35 AM
I've seen alot of Bachmann 2-8-2 locomotives mainly in the PRR livery and railway company, my only question really is, has bachmann ever made a Japanese 2-8-2 Class D51 locomotive?

I thouhght i saw one in the catalogue a couple weeks ago at my local dealer, and are just wondering if this is true, or, if anyone knows where i might possibly be able to find one, and if it is in HO scale, not N scale.

cheers for your help.

Recently, i've been working on my next new project, Stanley.

This project is another scratchbuild with plasticard, and the chassis being used is a Junior 0-6-0 with red wheels, so far the cab and boiler are coming along nicely, once they are complete, i can work on the other details like buffers, couplings, handrils and pipework e.t.c.

more pics to come soon...

I've decided that Rosie will be made from a kit instead of trying to kitbash her, that will be a new project for 2009 hopefully.

thank for the comments on Whiff.

regards

Cheers, it has taken a good few months to get him looking right, and i am very greatful to SimierskiUK for poitning me in the direction of Railmatches superb model paints and HMRS lining sheets. They have really come in handy to make each model possible.

The model is made from plasticard and the face comes from the wooden railway Whiff model.

Hello to all.

I used to be known as Railway Modeller on youtube, up until a point where i could no longer carry on displaying the media. And yes, some of you also know me as Dan from various places and also discussed on various places for stuff that people claim i have done.
I'm not here to discuss my issues, i am only here to carry on discussing model railways amongst the rest of you, so i will please ask that nobody ask me anything regarding other forums, as i will just ignore the messages.

Reently, i have been working on a  number of new models, some rendered from old models and some built completely from scratch using a material called plasticard.

Current Works in Progress

Stanley the Tank Engine - scratchbuild
Dennis the Lazy Diesel - Judith Edge Nickel Silver kit

Recently Completed Projects:

Whiff the Rubbish/Garbage Engine
Billy the Tank Engine (Mk II)

Upcoming Projects

Murdoch the Heavy Freight Engine (Mk II)
Sixteen
Hank the American Engine
Flora the Tram Engine (Mk II)

These projects, once completed, will be displayed here and also on my new blog, the link can be found in my signature. ;)

Thanks for looking

The Thomas The Tank Engine Man, is a very good read, it has some pics of Awdry's original layouts and some of the models he made. Same with some illustrations by William Middleton, who was the illustrator before Awdry commissioned his pictures to be illustrated again, by Reginald Dalby.

Glad you got the bachmann Edward and Mavis, i cannot wait for mine to arrive. ^^

Sadly, the layout i once had was taken up to make space for storage, however, i am planning a new layout, as i mentioned earlier which will have Tidmouth Sheds and possibly Wellsworth station, but if not, then i will model the station that appears in 'Thomas and the Guard' and 'Tenders and Turntables'.

The voices for the episodes, as i said before, will be done by me again with help from a few other friends, i'm sorry if i sound like a broken records here, i'm trying not to, but if i set a date for lines to come in, i expect them in on time just like anyone else would, and if they need more time, i will gladly extend it, providing they deliver.

I've already got some new episodes lined up, including my own, one of which is to be a take on the RWS book story 'Thomas and the Railtour', which features Green Arrow, which, i also now own from the Bachmann Heritage collection.

Thanks to all those who viewed the episodes when they were on youtube, it makes me feel happy to know so mnay liked them. :)

In all honesty, the Hornby Edward and Bachmann Edward models are both superior, Bachmann's for it's awesome detail to the Tv versions accuracy and Hornby's for it's more RWSish style and pulling power.

In short, both models are brilliant, love it or hate it.

Merry Christmas one and all.

This morning has been splendid as always, no Thomas stuff for me this year, just lots of comedy DVD's and a new Bachmann Standard 4MT 4-6-0 in BR lined green livery with late emblem and in weathered condition. :D

Episode 12 is now really badly delayed, it should have been completed three weeks ago, but, i have been let down so many times that i just cannot continue to ask for lines to come in, so instead, i will be voicing the characters again myself from now on, with some help, but from people who i can rely on to deliver when i ask.

I'm still in favour of Rosie being made sometime in the near future, since she has become a popular Female character alongside Emily.

My suggestions are as follows:

1. Diesel
2. Murdoch
3. Duck
4. Oliver
5. Harvey
6. Arthur
7. Neville
8. Fergus
9. Flora
10. Hank
11. Billy
12. Whiff

Though i put some of the new engines at the bottom of the list, i have no doubts about Hank being made, as the model that he is based on already exists in the Spectrum range.
