Large / Part Identification on Flat Car
January 03, 2020, 01:01:39 AM
I have an old Baltimore & Ohio flat car 1525 with logs.  On each end is a flip-up cross bar.  I have seen this same piece used other places like the rear of the tender that comes with 4-6-0 engines.  Is there is a name for this part.

Large / Cleaning old 4-6-0 G scale wheels
December 26, 2019, 07:18:21 PM
I have an old (1980s ?) 4-6-0 loco I'm trying to get running.  It needs a push to get started, starts and stops as it moves slowly, and shoots sparks from the front wheels.
I'm guessing the main problem is just dirty wheels.  There is no pitch or other signs it has ever been run outside.  Just lots of oxidation.
What is the best way to clean the wheels?

The exploded diagram for the On30 2.-6-0 can be found here:
https://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/dwg/dwgs/ON302-6-0.pdf

You might also check the side rods to make sure nothing is binding if the loco is bouncing.

Thanks.  The rods are clear and run as smoothly as I've ever seen on this sort of engine.
Do you know if replacement gears are even available?  They are not parted out on the diagram.

On30 / On30 2-6-0 Christmas Engine 3 info

I have an On30 2-6-0 Engine #3 from a North Pole Express set that is not working properly.  It moves slowly and bounces.  My guess is a bad gear.
I do not know the model number of the engine. Where can I find a service sheet with a diagram and part numbers?  Right now I do not even know how to take it apart to get to the gears.
