Indeed it would be very welcome to have these back again - and please don't forget the UK large scalers.

These type of seats were very common on British tramcars/streetcars, which in the main were double deckers.

In my church we had a side chapel: the pews in the chapel were the same type for use when the chapel was being used or the other way when used as an overspill for the main church.

I have around 20 items of the 93XXX, Big Hauler stock plus two "Annie" locos.  I got it all just before the newer 1:20.3 started to make its appearance.

The 93XXX Big Hauler rolling stock is cheaper and I feel blends well with my  1:29 models for size.  Although I do not mix the two sizes of rolling stock I do sometimes haul the Bachmann stock with a small 1:29 Aristo Centre Cab switcher.  To my eyes it doesn't look out of place (even if it is prototypically incorrect).

I therefore have stuck to these two Manufacturers ranges and I have accumulated more than enough to run a small railroad.

I have two Annies and a  around 18 items of Big Hauler (1:22.5) rolling stock.
I also have three Aristo locos plus 16 Aristo (1:29) items of stock.

I rarely run both makes at the same time.  One session of running is a Bachmann day and another an Aristo day.  However Aristo Centre Cab locos seem to be OK with the Big Hauler stock to my eyes.

You might consider  using the Big Hauler three bay hopper  for use as a trailing battery car as the coal load is easily removed..

The 1:1 Great Western Railway (UK) always relied on its busy lines to offset the losses on the rural and un-remunerative lines.  The bus company which ran in this County (a  large County in England) also had the same ethos.  It was considered that they were a service to the population and were obliged to provide it.

That was in what is often referred to "as the good old days" and sadly was not found desirable when many organizations from railroads through hospitals and many other services were controlled by accountants rather than those who were skilled in their field of  work.

Like Davie  I find that this is a very enjoyable and enlightening thread.

I recently saw the film for the first time and enjoyed every moment of it.

I suppose the locos that the D&RGW sold to White Pass are the nearest locos to get to the North Pole as far as the States is concerned. 

Do a search on SR Lord Nelson Class Locos on Wikipaedia.  All the info about the prototype is there and you will find other links as well. Similarly look up Martin Frobisher, all the locos were named after Royal Navy admirals, Nelson of course being the most famous.

As for the model I know little.

    I don't have a C-16 yet.   When the next consignment hit these shores I may get one - the black D&RGW one   

  The guys who do run C-16;s can tell you if the will do a 4ft., but if they don't then maybe the small Rodgers tender loco may be an alternative or a Porter.

  My only two steam outline locos are Annies, other locos are diesels.

    The Aristo web site recommends that of a 5ft. minimum rad. be used.

   Although this is the Bachmann place they are in fact the importers of Aristo-Craft products into the UK.  Both companies have a good working relationship.   Notice that The Bachmann was not partisan when mentioning this C-16.

It certainly looks good with my "Annies" and a consist of similar ng Bachmann boxcars and reefers.

I purchased a Billboard Reefer (Kennebec Brewery) in the early stages of my acquiring rolling stock.

I realized soon afterwards that it was not strictly within the era I have with the rest of my Bachmann stock: it did after all have a late 20th. century date on it.  It was also rather highly colourful in its appearance compared with the tank cars, gondolas and other freight cars I have.

I rather liked the appearance of a new reefer being brought out by a 1:29 scale manufacturer, I believe another 1:29 manufacturer also has one, so whilst their product is based on a steel reefer mine is on a wooden one.  So the car is totally fictitious but so then is my railroad name.   

I seem to have problems with posting pic here so I refer anyone interested to view my Picassa album for anyone wishing to see the finished article.  The design depicts the Rocky Mountains and is shown in the last three pics.

A great little loco, as are all the rest of the "Annie" family.  I have two and am more than pleased with them.   

The late Hughie Green, who if I remember correctly, was Canadian by birth had a noted model railroad which I think was OO scale.

He was noted for a programme called "Opportunity Knocks" in the UK - a form of talent show.
