General Discussion / What size wheels do I need?
July 07, 2017, 07:15:02 AM
What size wheel axle sets do I need for a recently purchased Bachmann Train N Scale Orange box car with a Rio Grande on it? It is in the Super Chief Set.
I have tried to figure it out........too complicated.   :(

My box car flew across the room when I had a collision  :o and one of the wheel sets popped out and I can't find it.
Thanks for  your help.

General Discussion / Re: Spouses and model railroading
September 12, 2016, 06:09:11 PM
I live with my EX husband. Been together 35 years.wait 37

He hates everything I do lol. No he has no interest in the RR. I clutter our house with art n craft supplies, dollhouses, projects, Train stuff. He grumbles now and then. He also likes old toys but never really looks at what I do with the trains. Maybe he looks when I am not around?

I have wanted a Model Train since I was a little girl. Had a HO scale in the garage for years in totes and finally brought it in, bought a new set, the Durango Silverton HO scale and set it up on a table in the living room so now I can test those old Bachmann engines I had in the garage.

I also am working on a 4x4 layout for my N scale trains. I put this in my crowded craft room but think I can put it in a better place in here once its done but I am not very tall so need it lower to work on it.  I have a lot to learn but finally am doing something about this crazy obsession.

Anyway sorry to rattle on, but he doesn't really complain. if anything its just about the space it takes up. Small house but hoping to figure out sort of shelf units to put the HO scale on someday.

Hey thanks a million for the help but I don't think I should do that ..........it could mess up my return. I just thought that maybe the wheels were tied down just for shipping but honestly if they were the directions would say how to remove them.

If it was a used one I would try that but its brand new out of the box...... :o

I just received my Bachmann N scale Durango Silverton set in the mail yesterday. Today I unpacked it and put it on the track and it won't run. I have two other Bachmann N scale trains the Thunder Valley and the Chief......they both work fine on the track so it isn't a problem with the track. They are also new so I just put the Durango Silverton on that track and when it wouldn't run I put the other trains on it and they run fine.

Oh my this must be a faulty train. I can return it to Omni Models but what a hassle! I noticed if I take my finger and try to move the wheels on the engine they dont move. Are they tied down in some way? There are little plastic things there but I am afraid to break anything off. There is no info about them being tied down or anything in the instruction manuals. I assume there is nothing to remove so they will turn?

So I guess should I just return it? This is sad. Don't they test these before packing them? Just wondering if I am doing something wrong. anyone got any suggestions?
