Why not remove all the DCC gubbins and wire it normally? One wire to one brush and the other one to t'other side. Job done.

HO / Re: Sound Project for a 45 Tonner

Just an idea. With the phone speakers I had no enclosures. So I got some 40 thou plastic card, measured the speaker and cut the card to suit. Plastic Weld was applied to the inside of the box and the speaker glued to the open side. One enclosure done.

I've got the 44 tonner and fitted sound to that. Loksound Micro replaced the stock chip and I've fitted a Sony phone speaker under the cab roof. Seems to work well. I did the same trick with the Bachmann Plymouth Switcher. The sound file I used for that was the Loksound 6 cyl and an air whistle.

General Discussion / Re: Bachmann SD40-2

Lifted the board on the SD40 to have a look underneath. There aren't any ins, it's hardwired in. I'll still have a look round. Rather than mess around replacing the board I'd be inclined to put a normal sound chip in and hardwire that.

There's no room in the fuel tank as it's full of lower chassis weight. There's no room in the body for the same reason. The circuit board of mine has got the yellow LED. I did see in the stores another board with an 8 pin plug. Are they interchangeable I wonder. Make it easier to change the decoder possibly.

General Discussion / Bachmann SD40-2

I have an SD40-2, DCC equipped, which I wish to fit sound to. Is there a board that's a straight swap for the Bachmann board? I know speakers will be a challenge, but I can put a small speaker under the cab roof. Unless anyone has a better solution? Thank you.
