cYou might want to clean your wheels as well, they may have leftover production oils on them. Just use a bit of smoke fluid on a q-tip to clean the treads to start.

Also, if it is a transformer intended for smaller scales, the motor may be drawing enough to trip the overload. I had that problem with a B'mann transformer when I was testing Thomas (got the wrong one (HO/N) out of the drawer!)

Is it all coming off or just the pony truck?

If it is the pony truck, that is a known problem. 1st Check that the little wires aren't binding and that it slides in the slot smoothly. 2nd  Adding a bit of weight on the truck frame right above the wheelsets can help as well.

If it is the whole thing, check your track joints, as mentioned. Also check your cross level and for high spots or dips.

If you're using the Aristo short radius turnouts, all bets are off...... I've never owned any Bachmann engine that liked them.

Sounds like a cracked gear hub on the axle. look for small cracks in the center part of the final gear.

Honestly, it isn't very difficult and doesn't take more than about 45 minutes -- as long as you're careful and don't have to play "hunt the screw" too much.

Norman, tender light appears to be on the right (engineer's) side. A lot of NG locos had them there so they'd be out of the way of trainmen climbing the ladder. The NoS Delton guy on fleabay has most of the parts you'd need pretty reasonable (cab, roof, tender floor and shell). You'd just need to re-use the tender trucks and whatever electronics you wanted to transfer, then scrounge an air tank. Be cheaper than buying a whole new tender.

And I already did the cab swap years ago, so I know it's pretty easy. It fits right over the edges of the factory cab floor leaving just a small gap to fill. And I think lowering the walkways and removing the air tanks would probably help most of that 'boiler too high' look.

Since this was done primarily with Bachmann parts and products I thought I'd share it here. 

For those wanting heavier motive power without changing their 1:22.5 layout over to 1:20 - Take one 1:20 Spectrum 2-8-0.....


Add the smaller Big Hauler 4-6-0 cab and tender shell in place of the factory one, shorten the domes, etc to match, and maybe move things around a bit......


Weather to taste.....


And call it a Baldwin 10-30E.....

Ummm, a stress induced headache from people (who haven't been in the same room together for a year for a reason) bickering...and a big stack of bills? 

Hate to be a downer, but I had a lil trouble with this dude...he took almost a month to ship an item I bought on ebay (and paid within minutes of the end using Paypal)..... I only got it when i complained and threatened to leave negative feedback. So in response to HIS mistake he blocked me from bidding on any future auctions. My money goes elsewhere.
