General Discussion / Re: G Scale Car Part Exchange

Hi Jeff. I disassembled the coach car very carefully and you're right. It just snaps/fits together without any glue and the roof comes off with the sideboard names in place (one piece). Should work great. Thanks again!

Hi Bill. I removed the pin bar and it works like a charm! Thanks again. Bill

Thanks, Bill. I sure do appreciate your reply. Thought of doing just that, but I didn't want to cause any conductivity problems. I am new to the hobby and a bit leary of taking chances with an expensive loco. No doubt it will work as a charm! Regards. Bill

Large / 2-6-0 Loco Problem
January 30, 2012, 08:53:48 AM
Purchased a loco (81495) and attempted to run it on my track. It runs great on straight track, but when it rounds a curve it binds and stops. Upon further examination, I noticed that unlike all of my other locos, this one had two downward facing pins inside the middle drive wheels which ride inside of both track rails. I believe these pins are causing the binding and therefore stopping the loco. I also believe, according to the brochure, that these have something to do with the loco's conductivity. Does anyone know how I can remedy this situation? Thank you.

Thanks for your response. I am new to this hobby and as such, I am learning as I go. I cannot tell if they are part of the body or not. It seems as if the kits show them assembled as one piece. I may well try to disassemble one, but prior to attempting this, thought it best to ask someone who might have had some experience in doing so.

General Discussion / G Scale Car Part Exchange

Can anyone tell me if I can exchange the top of a Denver & Rio Grande Full Baggage Car with the top of a Virginia & Truckee Observation Car (to make a VT Full Baggage car) without damage to either? I do not want to attempt this if the parts are glued or set in place to stay. I believe this can be done, but would like the advice from someone with the knowledge and experience. Thank you!

On30 / Re: Bachmann EZmate Couplers

Thanks, Bill.  Still a bit confusing for a neophyte!  I'm going to order the medium shank coiled spring couplers for my passenger and box cars (78022) if these are in available in the Mark II series.  Regards. Bill

Can anyone tell me the correct part (item) number (780XX) for use on the Kinkade Christmas Express On30 Train cars? I believe it is one of these as it has a metal coil spring. Thank you!
