Large / G scale Shay power replacement trucks
March 12, 2015, 11:18:00 AM
Hello,
Last August I purchased a set of 1:20.3 scale Shay power trucks, item no. 88999 for my 2 truck Bachmann Shay
One of the power trucks is now not picking up power from the rails. I hesitate to open up the power block, didn't know if Bachmann suggests not doing this but feel it just must be a loose or disconnected wire inside. I'm hoping you have a suggestion.
Thanks for any thoughts.

I have a 2 truck G scale shay which needs the replacement trucks that Bachmann offers.
Does anyone know if the installation is pretty simple ? Are there instructions included with the power trucks.
Thanks for any help.

Large / 2 truck shay - instruction mamual
August 08, 2014, 06:04:19 PM
I received a new G scale 2 truck shay from ebay which came with a video cassette with instructions on running and lubricating the engine.
I no longer have a Cassette player as everything seems to be DVD these days.
Is there written instructions on the Bachmann website that covers this material ?
Thanks for any help

I would like to ebay bid on a Bachmann 2 truck shay but understand one version came out with plastic gears and a later release came out with brass (metal) gears .
This is a Pardee & Curtin 36 ton 2 truck shay item #81196
Does the item # tell anyone if it has plastic or brass gears ? The seller does not know.
Thanks for any help.

Large / Re: Big Hauler freight car box labling
April 24, 2014, 09:00:38 AM
Thanks Chuck,
That makes sense. I was concerned about the scale of the Big Hauler line of rolling stock. Most articles I have read indicated that LGB equipment was built to !:22.5 scale and when Bachmann came into the picture they produced 1:22.5 equipment to keep in line with LGB, I assume this was the Big hauler line.
Then Bachmann added their Spectrum line at 1:20.3 to bring the scale equal to our 3' narrow Gauge.
However you mention 1:24 scale for the Big hauler line so now I'm confused. Just wondering which is correct.
Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it.

Large / Big Hauler freight car box labling
April 23, 2014, 05:21:39 PM
Just getting into Large scale railroading. I noticed that my Big Hauler item 93318 D&RGW box car is labeled as an "L" Box Car but my Item 93324 C&S box car is labeled as "LS" Box Car.
Just wondering what the difference is between "L" and "LS"
Thanks for any help.

HO / K4 Pacific
November 09, 2008, 03:02:30 PM
Hi,
A friend purchased an HO Pacific K4 with Sound on Board. I programmed his engine to a 4 digit number, changed some sound volumns and selected another bell. All worked fine on DCC. He now says the engine won't run under analog control. My question is, should the engine run using either analog or DCC control ?
Thanks for any help.

General Discussion / Re: Mystery wire
October 27, 2007, 10:50:08 PM
Hi Guys,
The wire color is black and attached to the lead weight inside the locomotive cab with a brass screw. The other end has some solder on it but can't see where it came off of but it must be from inside the tender somewhere I assume. I believe this is an older unit. The tender trucks are pickups for the motor located in the  tender which works fine. A plastic drive shaft slips into the motor armature inside the tender, the other end of the shaft slips into a slot in the loco cab and drives the loco drivers. All seems to work OK without this wire attached but it must go somewhere.

General Discussion / Mystery wire
October 27, 2007, 09:13:18 PM
Hi,
I'm trying to re-assemble an HO Bachmann American 4-4-0 Steam engine for a neighbor. The motor works and so does the engine's headlight. I have a 3" long wire attached to the back of the engine and can't figure where the other end was attached or what it is used for. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

HO / 4-8-2 Heavy Mountain
August 01, 2007, 09:02:02 PM
I have a new Spectrum 4-8-2 Heavy Mountain whose headlight flickers in anolog mode. Is there an easy way to access the smokebox to check for a loose connection to the LED or am I better off sending it back to Bachmann.
Thanks for any thoughts.
