HO / Using DCC engine on conventional power layout
December 15, 2013, 04:18:28 PM
I just unpacked a Bachmann HO 2-8-0 consolidation DCC Loco, bought it last year but never used.  My conventional power (non DCC) Christmas layout uses a TechII 1500 throttle/power supply. The layout has an inter loop and and an outer loop.  One train on each loop controlled by the same power supply.  I have been using this setup for 8 years without a problem

The Bachmann engine ran for several minutes with conventional power on the one loop with another engine running on the second loop.  The power supply stopped working, no out put on the variable dc, as if there is a short circuit.  When I remove the Bachmann engine the second engine works just fine.

Is there something that I need to disable on the Bachmann to make this work.  Is it possible to remove the decoder and run as convention dc power?  Not sure what to do.
