N / Re: Drive rods 2-8-4 Bershire
March 17, 2017, 02:07:16 PM
Thanks to all for help, little of this a little of that its better but my conclusion is that it is mechanical with the slop in in the short drive rod
between 3&4 as many have said if that last driver was geared or one drive rod connecting the 1-3 & 4 would probably eliminate this I"ll
have to just close my eyes for 6 or 7 seconds till it gets up to speed and just deal with it, sending back for me is a waste, will be told there's
nothing wrong with it moves forward an back sound works, lights work and send it back to me. I don't believe they look at things the way
we do maybe I just spoiled with my other locomotives.

Thanks Mike C.

Yes I do have DCC not sure how to do the BEMF , I went and looked at the chassis assembly sheet and the slop in #MT02 rod is where
it seems to be not sure if there is supposed to be that much play.  Seems ok the faster the loco goes but at speed steps 1 thru 3 maybe
that is the design since that last set of drive free wheels and is only turned by the short drive rod to bad that is not geared or one rod
connecting 3 wheel sets , But I will try the BEMF thing once find out how its done. If that does cure it back to Bachmann, bummer love these berks.

Thanks again, Joe

N / Drive rods 2-8-4 Bershire
March 10, 2017, 08:38:10 AM
Was so happy when Bachmann announced the Berkshire which I purchased and still love sound is good pulls fairly well but has anyone
looked at drive rods I've heard of binding seems to be a non issue for me, my problem is the binding of the drive rods for the 4 drivers,2 geared wheel sets 2 seperate drive rods connecting 3 driver sets 1&3 -3&4 I believe if the drive rods set-up like the 2-8-0 there would less of a herky jerky movement at speed steps 1 thru 6 or gear the last driver I've looked at mine very closely an the drive rods do not stay on the same plain  for they seem to kink slightly, causing the herky jerky movement has anyone else noticed this. This is a great looking locomotive but
sum what disappointed with this it shows all the way thru the passenger cars herkin and jerkin  ??? if the main drive rod was one piece connecting all three like the 2-8-0 it would run SO MUCH smoother do we think that Mr Bachmann can
look into this for a possible fix I believe this would make very good locomotive to a excellent locomotive not a engineer just like to tinker.

I don't think it would be the motor I think that it really is the decoder itself power goes threw decoder first then to motor but I could be wrong both A&B units run the same way buzzing then start moving speed step 6 to 28 sound like its surging from the way it sounds and moves. I'm going to try the cv thing tonight and see what happens.

N / New n scale F7A-B units acceleration

I have a problem with these locos they program easy move forward an back but accelerate seems like surging at leased it sounds that way once there up to about speed step 10 an up and as far as speed steps 1 thru 5 seem to be non existent with allthough sounds like the decoder is making noise an speed step 6 starts to creep like it should on 1 all my steamers run excellent but this the first time I encountered this type of problem any suggestions would be greatly appreciated kinda bummed this was the start of a new excursion train I'm planning won't do any good if they run like this.   ???  Thanks for the help.

Wanted to know if Bachmann was going to produce a N SCALE BERKSHIRE with modern technology

They have made them in HO, then could they possibly be produced in a N SCALE VERSION.

Hopefully that makes it easy to understand.

N / New releases of n steam Locomotives
February 24, 2014, 07:53:10 AM
Is bachmann going to continue creating n scale versions of the steam locomotives 2-6-0.4-6-0,2-8-0, 4-8-2,very nice but maybe the 2-8-4 bershire in N scale DCC ready or equipped versions,We see plenty of the HO ,Lionel O but but stopped with a few, the spectrum series in very good I don't think anyone has one yet but it maybe food for thought I see that on ebay 2-8-4 berks are gobble up quick. :o even with them being from 70's to I think the late 80's and not any more then rivarossi/con cor, this may be something to consider in furture is this a good idea or is it not.

Thanks  ;) ( Make a new version of N scale Berkshire with modern technology)

General Discussion / Re: Future of the Spectrum Range?
January 09, 2014, 08:51:29 AM
That s good to hear keep the spectrum going, Just a possibility does anyone think bachmann could produce the 4-6-2 's we have them in HO but what about N that would,I think in keeping with the trend of producing the liitle brother could be a wonderful thing does anyone else think the same or I'm I just thinking out loud. ;)
