Thomas & Friends / Large scale James pupil.
December 16, 2020, 11:27:52 AM
I've finally received my LS James model and even though I am really pleased with it, one of his pupils has a scratch all the way through it.

What brand of paint, or any other brand would you suggest to fix this?

Thanks in advanced :)

I was about to suggest Bill and Ben. Popular and classic characters and the fact that people (Mostly) will buy both characters.

I doubt Arry and Bert will get made after their HO history, but I am 100% certain that Paxton will be announced for 2021.

Thomas & Friends / Repainting G Scale Spiteful Brake Van
September 30, 2020, 05:51:01 AM
Hi all.

I have purchased a G Scale Spiteful Brake Van, and I am looking forward to getting it tomorrow from my local model shop.

This maybe an unpopular opinion, however I do not like the colour scheme of the model, and I plan to repaint Spiteful Brake Van to look like his TV series counter part.

I have never repainted a model before, and I am not really comfortable in doing so, so I decided to do something that looks quite simple.

I have a few questions that I am hoping some members can help me out with.

- I assume spray paint is the best way to go, which brand of spray paint is the best?
- If I go down the spray paint route, shall I also use spray paint on the buffers to make them black?
- Can the face easily be removed and then attached back on? I don't want to spray his face!

Finally, I am not really sure what colour the brake van is? I watched the episode and researching online, a source says that the brake van is a mixture of grey and brown, but i'm not entirely sure.

Any input would be greatly appreciated :D

Thomas & Friends / Re: Large Scale James Curve Radius

Thanks for your advice guys.

I live in the UK and I have tried searching for a Bachmann 8' curve, however I have not yet been able to locate any.

https://www.bachmann.co.uk/category/model-railway/bachmann-trains/large-scale/large-scale-accessories-and-track

Looking at the Bachmann UK site, there isn't one listed.

Rusty, do you know or have a product code for the 8' curve? It may help me in my search to find them.

Thanks again.

Thanks!

HO:
Stepney

N:
Diesel
Brake Van
Milk Tanker
S.C.Ruffey

009:
Sir Handle

Large Scale:
Paxton (He was listed on Bachmann UK's website with a similar product number to LS Diesel, however it was removed after I had made a topic about it here, which was also removed so to me Paxton is pretty much confirmed for 2021).

Thomas & Friends / Custom face paint
August 03, 2020, 12:00:49 PM
Hi all.

I plan to purchase a Devious Diesel face to replace my HO Bachmann model from shapeways, using the "Smooth fine detail plastic" material.

I am wondering which is the best paint to use for the face and the pupils of the eyes?

Also, when the face has been attached I plan to use a Matte spray finish, as I do prefer a matte finish to the models, which spray do you recommend?

Thanks in advance!

Fantastic, just need Boco and Trevor and I believe that completes the season 1 and 2 characters, which are the ones I most enjoy!

All fa come together as one

What brand are the Bertie and Trevor models? Bertie seems to have a better scale than the Bachmann one!

It was literally in the post at the bottom of the last page, but here it is again:
https://www.shapeways.com/shops/seansstuff?s=0#more-products

I also must agree however, that the faces there are amazing. I'm surprised more people in the fandom don't know about it, in all honesty.

Has anyone used these? What's your opinion? Thinking of a diesel face to replace my cgi face  :)

Thanks for the info guys :)

As I live in the UK I am to assume that I cant use the lifetime warranty and will have to buy a fresh new model everytime mine stop working, is this right? :(

Hey guys,

Thinking of a dcc layout, and I am wondering how long do these models actually last? I heard by some youtubers that they need to replace their models every couple of years! How long have you had your engines that still work perfectly? Any suggestions to keep them going for as long as possible? Reason I ask is because dcc conversion is super expensive and I didn't want to convert them if the life time isn't too great.

Cheers!

On the TTTE Wikia for the Smelly Kipper episode. The description says that James teases Percy because he is afraid of the dark. Ghost Train (Season 2 episode 25) says that Percy enjoys running at night time. :S
