Roger,

Any word back from Bachmann yet on your 2-6-0 request?  I had the same problem on a 2-8-0 I sent in for repairs about 5 years ago and got a new one instead of my original.  I'm beginning to think that Bachmann management needs to address their communication problems with the public.

James,

Thanks a million.  I  clicked on the Bachmann EZ track icon and I guess I didn't go far enough in, and just assumed they didn't make one.

HO / EZ track 90 degree crossover

Mr. B,

Any hopes in the future for a 90 degree crossing in EZ track?  I'm going to need two for a future expansion.

Thanks to those who replied.

Flare:  I wasn't aware of the composite rail joiners....also thanks for the web connection.  That helps a lot.

Hunt:  I figured the EZ track was 100 code based on their ad in MR.  Before I start cutting, grinding and cussing I think I might use my dremmel tool to shave down the code 100 rail to make it more compatible to the 83.  I've done that in the past with no problems.  The only cutting I plan to do is at one end of an EZ straight section.  Currently I plan to only cut off the connection tabs.  As I said in my original post I only have about 2 inches to play with.  I have two 90 degree crossovers that must connect to the end of the EZ straight section and it would be a nightmare to remove them.  I sure would appreciate your thoughts on that.

Oh, by the way, do you charge fees for consultation?   :)

HO / Bachmann EZ track questions
December 12, 2017, 03:50:26 PM
I bought some Bachmann EZ track in hopes of curing an unleveled part of my layout.  I have 2 questions.

1. Before I tear out my old track, could someone advise me how to connect my existing track to the elevated Bachmann piece.  Currently the old track is attached to cork roadbed and it appears to be about an eighth to one sixteenth of an inch in elevation separation.  I know I must cut the plastic connectors on the EZ track in order to mate with my old code 83 track.  I only have about 2 inches to play with.

2.  The EZ track has a very low cross tie profile and I prefer to have my ties showing through the ballast.  In gluing my ballast down, should I affix my ballast down first then glue, or glue the roadbed first then smooth it out?

Any ideas would certainly be appreciated.

Ram,
Yes, it is cast metal.

Len,
Great ideas!  I'll give it a try next week if I don't go blind after watching the eclipse ::)

Len,

Thanks for the posting for Northwest Short Lines.  I went to their site and found that the only gear size the showed had gear teeth that were much too wide.

Now for my problem:  I have a metal (not brass) engine that I bought at a train swap.  Poor ole dumb me forgot to get the manufactures name from the seller.  The teeth on my gear is metal, but I don't know how to size it nor do I know how to measure the diameter of the axle  or the number of gear teeth. (I cant reach it with my calipers).

So, with my limited description do you have any further ideas how I could locate a replacement or should I just park it on a side track and forget I ever had it?

Thanks for your many posts in the past....I've found them quite useful.

Joe,

Yeah, I was aware of that.  That was my problem in trying to use the Atlas pre-made track pieces.  Too many dremel cuts which caused a complete collapse of the pieces.  With the template suggested by Len, I hope to have the appropriate cuts and angles filed before I place the rails on the ties..... at least that's my plan.

Anyway, thanks for the heads up.

Thanks a million for your post.  That is exactly what I'm looking for.

HO / Curved crossover
April 18, 2017, 04:14:07 PM
I'm trying to make a curved crossover consisting of one 22 in. radius curved atlas snap track through which a section Atlas straight track crosses about 15 degrees.  I have already ruined two curved pieces, one straight piece and one 15 degree crossover in trying to manufacture this nightmare.

I.m about to give up, so my question is this.  Is anyone aware of any manufacturer that makes any kind of curved crossover?

Thanks for any kind of help,

Bill

Len,

Speaking of strings, do you know what was on the 1962 MENSA test?

Q:  How long is a piece of string?

A:  Twice as long as half of it and half as long as twice of it.

Man, we've really got off the subject of trains haven't we.

Hey thanks guys.  I knew some one on this forum would have the answer.  Now I can tell Kyle the reason.  Boy, he will think I'm really smart. :)  I just hope he doesn't ask me anything about string theory.
