Thanks all. Correction from my original post:
1. The locomotive is actually 4-6-0. The instruction manual link (2-6-4) provided is pretty much same for this locomotive.
2.  Smoke fluid did come with it, and I just have to look hard in the huge box to find it in the corner pocket of Styrofoam box.

Additional question:
The locomotive comes in all black, I would like to paint it. Do you recommend any specific paint (not color, brand)? And if it is okay to paint this locomotive by paint brush or with spray paint?

Hi all,
I am new to train hobby and recently purchased Bachmann lakeshore limited addition. The ready to run set doesn't come with smoke fluid and I am not sure if Bachmann already pre-filled the smoke unit or not.  How can I check or add the smoke fluid in this engine smoke unit? I see at the bottom, there is on/off switch, but there is no indication where actually the storage unit for smoke fluid.  Please advise. Thanks much.
