What are the correct size wheels for a 36' 2 bay open hopper? Thanks.

Highball-

Traction tires are like rubber bands which fit around a pair of drivers on a locomotive to significantly increase the adhesion between the wheels and the rail. The wheels which hold them have shallow radial grooves to keep the tires from sliding off sideways duringuse.

Okay, I know what you're talking about.  I had an old LIFELIKE engine once that had those on it. I thought that may be what they were but wasn't sure. Thanks a lot, D

many of the bachmann diesels have flywheels. in addition to the gp30, the gp35, sd45, h16-44 and the dash 8s all have flywheels. they are decent runners, i would recommend them.

Thanks.

It is decent for the price, but for about $5-$10 you can buy an equivalent loco with DCC already installed.

Thanks, I know that, but I'm really not interested in DCC right now. I'm just wanting to know if this engine (the DC model), with it's flywheels, runs significantly smoother than other DC Bachmann models without flywheels.

HO / Bachmann GP30 (DC)

I was reading an add about the Bachmann GP30 and noticed something very interesting. In addition to having 8 wheel drive like other Bachmann engines, this one has flywheels.  None of the other descriptions for other Bachman engines mention anything about any of them having flywheels. By it's description, this GP30 really sounds awesome.  Does anyone here own this engine? If so, is it as good as it sounds? I'm really thinking about buying one.
