Williams by Bachmann / Re: Williams GP-9's

Tomp.

I just went to the Williams products on the main site here and the circuit boards list for $43.95 plus shipping.
You may need to remove one of the ends, and use wire nuts or solder it, from the new circuit board leeds to make it work with your GP-9.

Just for info, the GP-9's have been around for a little while as well! I have three GP-9's, two powered and one unpowered. My newest GP-9 (it has the TB-2 sound unit)is from around 2003 and the other GP-9's (it just had a basic horn until I updated it to TB-2)are from earlier, not sure of what year.

This may be true with the GP-9's as welll as the SD-45's by Williams from a few years back. The SD-45's I have are from differant years and they have differant circuit boards from the factory installed by Williams. From what I know about the SD-45's and what the Williams Service department has told me there are at least four differant circuit boards that could of been installed depending upon the year it was made.
The circuit boards all have a number on them or a letter sequence that will identify the approximate year it was made or sold, should be five to eight letters or numbers, and the size may be a little smaller than the print used here.

Williams by Bachmann / Re: Peter Witt Streetcar

The Lionel CW-80 has some issues when using it with MTH PS-2 equipped engines. The CW-80 has some type of differant electronic output that confuses most MTH products with PS-2 or PS-3 command control systems.
I am a little surprisesd to hear that the CW-80 is giving problems with the Peter Witt streetcar, but it don't shock me knowing the complaints against the CW-80 on other forums, like CTT.

I have the MTH Z-1000 and have no problems with running any Williams with it. The postwar 275 watt ZW is another transformer that I use with my Williams engines, the only problem is high speed take-offs with the GP-9's and not being able to get the bell feature out of True Blast-2 units without an extra sound button added in.

New clubcar for 09 arrived at my house yesterday afternoon, just before I went to work, so I brought it inside and opened after work at night. Very nice, the uncouplers have what looks more like K-Line uncoupler than a Lionel style uncoupler device, the uncoupling is done by electro magnet in an uncoupling track section from what I can see.
It would be really nice to have a second tank car with Plasticville on it.

So far the only other thing I have by Bachmann in the Williams line is the True Blast-2 diesel horn kit, which I installed in a non-Williams diesel engine as it has better sound than the original horn in the diesel engine I bought from another company a few years ago.
Awaiting the Plasticville Tank car, to see what Bachmann has done with the Williams line.

Williams by Bachmann currently makes a new 2-8-4 berkshire style steam locomotive.
I don't have any locomotives made by the new company in the Williams line. Just have a new motor kit and it works very well.

My complaint about a lot of steam engines that are made as models is that the company who makes them doesn't have a front coupler on the engine, that makes it almost impossible to double head any steam engine without a front coupler.

Lione does have a "sound activation button" for transformers without sound buttons.  Should work with AF transformers.  watch how you wire.  Depending on how the black and red wires aare connected to the transformer, you will get horn or bell, but not both!

You can get both horn & bell but you need two sound activation buttons, one wired the correct way for the horn and the second wired in reverse for the bell. One note about Williams sound units, you can get one sound at a time, not both horn(whistle) & bell at the same time.

Williams by Bachmann / Re: S2 turbine running hot.

I have the slightly older version of the S-2 by Williams and it runs great with a Lionel post war 275 watt ZW or an MTH Z-1000 transformer.
Not sure about MRC, but I was told to stay away from MRC for O gauge power from a few local hobby shops in southeast Florida.

Just got ahold of Bachmann and the new delivery date is by August 31st. The shipment of cars just arrived in port is my understanding at this time.

An American Flyer transformer should work with all Williams engines, but if you have sound units that might be a differant story. The sound units with Williams, made before Bachmann, take a few seconds of having the button pressed to activate. If you have a True Blast 2 horn unit, you will need to have a modern transformer with horn & whistle buttons to activate the sound unit.

Dear All,

The cars are shipping now and the email newsletter was just sent today.  We are shipping the cars out as fast as possible, but we have a lot of them to ship. If you don't receive your car by the end of the month, please let us know.

Regards,

3rail

The beginning of August is here, Aug. 2nd @ 4:00 pm EST and still no car in the mail or parcel delivery(Fed-EX or UPS). Just thought that I would post this. South Florida mail is slow at times but I would hope to see my car by August 18th.

Take the motor out and try spinning the front wheels, if they turn smoothly you might have just a gear alignment problem. That happens when you don't line-up the gears with the teeth on the motor and will cause the motor to bind. If you can make sure the flywheel on the motor can turn freely after putting the motor unit back into the truck assembly and the wheels turn on the truck assembly.
I have taken some of my SD-45's and F-7's apart and re-assembled them and that is the only thing I can think of off hand.

Look at the way the postwar Lionel motor mounts to the frame, it might be totally differant than the Williams by Bachmann mounting.
I would go with a Lionel motor for the 2333.

Thanks Bobbie.
I don't care much for track that don't use track pins in O gauge, as it can come apart easier.

Remember you void :o the warrenty!! :'( So think before you strike!
Using a diode bridge or bridge rectifier, at 6 amp rating and 50volts, as it is called is the best way to lock the car in forward. The + sign is the DC positive output to the motor, the - sign is the negative to the motor, and the track power gets hooked up to the unmarked terminals on the bridge rectifier.
