On30 / Re: 4-6-0 on the water?

The rumor I read came from a most reliable source, so I'm inclined to believe it.  I would like to get an order in for the new 4-6-0, but I would really like to see the final paint schemes first, along with which cabs and domes go with which paint scheme.  The sooner we can get photos, the better.  Could be an extra festive July 4th here in the states...

Bachmann never states their intentions, so we don't know anything until an official announcement is made.  But a long caboose is certainly something I would be interested in.  Not that I don't have enough cabeese already...

Tenders would be great.  I added a tender from the Bachmann 2-8-0 to a BLI 2-8-0, and it really changed the look.  It would also be really cool to have items like headlights, smokestacks, and maybe even cabs for sale.  The "Order Parts" area of this site would be a great place for this sort of stuff, even if it were just odd bits left over from the Service Dept.

With the 0-4-0, I can navigate 6" radius, with cars.  And the 0-4-2 can be made into a 0-4-0, if needed.  I'm not sure of the details, but I believe that most of the 0-4-2 runs were more recent than the 0-4-0, and thus most, if not all of the 0-4-0s have a less efficient wiper setup on the wheels.  I know that my 0-4-2 ran better than the 0-4-0s, appearing to have a better motor.

Even the 0-4-2 has been discontinued, so you might want to grab one soon.  Even on Ebay, I'm seeing the numbers shrink, and the prices rise accordingly.

Walthers has it on sale "today."   I'm not sure how long that sale will last.

Otherwise, you could try John Weigel's Peterboro R.R., Nathan Kline's Light Iron Hobbies, Lantz' wholesaletrains.com, maybe even Trainworld.  Also found a few on Ebay.

Or do you mean the Bachmann outside-framed 4-4-0, the Brazilian one with the bluish boiler?  If that's the case, I would suggest checking with the usual suspects.

Offering one's opinions and preferences on the board is fine [I do it too] , but when you start repeating your preferences over and over, it becomes pestering.  Pestering might work with parents sometimes [just ask my kids], but it doesn't work in business.

Perhaps a better approach would be to offer an opinion about a new release, and wait to see what the other board members think.  Broad support for a new loco from a number of customers is that influences Bachmann, not repeated comments from one or two guys.

Along those lines, the Lawndale 2-8-0 is something that would interest me, but not as much as some other locos.

My guess is that the economic slowdown caused a decline in the cost of raw materials, which made the locos cheaper to build.  I know petroleum went way down, and so did some metals.  The cost of transportation is also a big factor, since they are made halfway around the world from most of their buyers.

On30 / Re: ON-30 outdoors

As far as I know, the plastic in Peco track is adjusted to withstand UV.  A fellow named John Teal has several YouTube videos showing his outdoor On30 layout, under the username johntealon30, and you might be able to google some links to other info.

In terms of remote control and batteries, at a recent train show we got to see a 1:48 truck that was fully remote controlled, and it seems that it would be easy to fit the same electronics into the tender of a larger On30 loco.  Seems like there was an On30 modular club that was partially RC.  Maybe someone else can recall.

The Bach-Man never leaks info until the official announcement.

Didn't think to translate the thread title!

In any case, if it just arrived, then it's not the next release from Bachmann.  As far as I know, nothing beyond the 4-6-0 has been announced.

Some of the French translate as:

>>> It just arrived, my latest acquisition, Tsunami in board, and it runs like a queen.  Regarding the scale, I would say almost certainly the On30 is the scale practice.  Good to go, the paries have committed, knowing that at Shay Favorite sound version costs around $ 220, here, is not a classic, and it had not in the Favorite, I put 1 and 2 I note, taking into account the wind and gravity, the bike well I guess around $ 350, (here is damn expensive anyway and I hope am wrong.  And you guys, in your opinion, how

It's funny, but I remain convinced that this is not a new model Bachmann, but a learned assembly, with parts Wiseman or PSC, for example ... We'll see the return of our bourreau. <<<

Sounds like it's not a new Bachmann release, but something that was acquired from another source.  Besides, I think the geared loco crew would rather have a Heisler than a larger Shay as the next geared release. Eh?

If a cross-post doesn't get me into trouble, here is a photo of the BTS Sn3 model of #11.  Personally, I think it's a great compromise between the mass of the 2-8-2 and the need to handle tight curves.  Although I do wonder if it would look awfully big next to a Bachmann On30 boxcar, especially ones like mine that have been surgically lowered.

I would really like to see the 2-6-2.  The drawings I've seen show a loco shorter than the 2-8-2, which would make it better able to handle the notoriously tight curves on many On30 layouts.

The SR&RL 2-6-2 would also be great.

Hi Scot, I don't know what part of the country you live in [or what country, for that matter], but there are several On30 meets in the US now.  There are also a growing number of On30 modular clubs.  Here is a listing of the ones we know about:

http://www.on30annual.com/on30_modular.php

I've also seen photos of On30 exhibition layouts in the UK, and a few in Japan.
