Still, faces and small details like side rods and rivets just can't be compared to a complete overhaul of a character's design that doesn't remotely portray their original design.

But those are small details- this would be a complete overhaul. I don't think you can compare them.

What on Earth makes you think that they won't go with how he looks in the TVS? It's pretty absurd to think that they'll actually make him accurate to his basis. Heck, his CGI promo was used in the catalog. That leaves very little to imagination imo

The talks about redesigned James have got me wondering what other models have issues, paint or otherwise, and if you all here have done anything to fix these issues? I, for one, have completed started over on Thomas, Percy, and James with open cabs, new faces, CGI details, etc. Wondering if there would be any interest in the creation of a thread dedicated to mods made to your Bachmann engines-pictures, descriptions, etc? I have a feeling the Bachmann mods are both aware and accepting of the changes many people make to their models. I direct you to this quote:

That being said, if you would like to change your own models with some hobby paint that is totally acceptable.
Thoughts? Yay or nay?

In general, Duck is just a huge engine. Even after his CGI "rebuild," he's still quite large.

Even in the model series, he's quite large. Just compare the size of the humans to both engines and you should see what I mean.

In my opinion, Duck is Bachmann's...ok-est model. He's a good runner, has a good hauling capacity, and for the most part is accurate to his TVS counterpart in terms of detail. The main problem is that his length and height don't scale well to HO/OO, and the inconsistency regarding  his size leads to him being a pretty hard model to nail. Not a knock on Bachmann at all, though.

"Oliver! What are you doing on my track?"
"Your track? Who says this is your track?"
"There are two ways of doing things, Oliver: The Great Western way, and-"
"The wrong way, I know... and you're doing it the wrong way!"
This made me laugh. xD

Awesome review Chaz. I had heard that he was incredibly small- did you feel he was out of scale size-wise with engines such as Gordon or Duck?

First of all, I want to apologize to OPs and thomasj219 for my original comments. I shouldn't have been so harsh and I should've respected what thomas was trying to say in response. Apologies to all who had to get involved- I never intended for this to become a huge issue. I hope we can put it to rest. I will be PMing the OPs and thomasj219 personally as well. I'm normally never like this, and I don't know what came over me. I sincerely apologize to everyone for my behavior.

The one thing I worry about, Chaz, is how many people will buy both models at once? Even without MSRP, that comes in at somewhere around $200. If you buy one and wait for the other, who knows if you'll be able to find it? I know for one that Skarloey is literally out of stock everywhere...

Kinda a shame that its taking so long, but we've made it this far I guess.

HO / bachmann ez track 4x8 layouts- ideas?
February 27, 2017, 09:14:12 AM
building up a temporary layout on my benchwork before we move houses. using bachmann nickel silver track because of price and ease of use. if anyone has any good layout ideas for a 4x8 table let me know. I was thinking something along the lines of this https://www.amazon.com/Layout-Bachmann-Track-Nickel-Silver/dp/B01I4C1TIW/ref=pd_sbs_21_8?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01I4C1TIW&pd_rd_r=0E9JFQ4VZS08H5QCSPXT&pd_rd_w=OkSdQ&pd_rd_wg=HrpmJ&psc=1&refRID=0E9JFQ4VZS08H5QCSPXT

but not from this seller per say and probably a bit of a different setup. not sure though. would like more ideas. thanks

Are we seriously worrying about that right now?
