   There is an ARII kit listed on E bay for a 1/50th plastic model of a JNR Class 51,
which could provide you with the super structure for your conversion.

   Having rode the West Coast Wilderness Railway in Tasmania, I am also interested.
As the Rly was built as a common carrier, it was the main connection from the mines at Queenstown to the
wharfs at Strahan. Engines lead the trains both ways, from Halls Creek Siding (start of rack section)with a grade of 6.25 % to the summit at Rinadeena Saddle, down grade is 5% to Dubbil Barril  (Double Barrel). The section from Queenstown to Dubbil Barril is operated by Adhension/Rack steam engines. At Dubbil Barril ( end of rack section) a passing track and turntable allows for switching of power/trains and a diesel takes the train on  to Strahan.
The Rly was shutdown in 1963, rebuilding started in 1989, and the trip is worth taking if you are ever in Tasmania.

  I Have a AKANE  2-4-4-2 in Brass, even at over 40 years old, still running if somewhat
noisey. Still a sweet running engine. Time for a grease and lube job.

   3 Books I would suggest to take a look at.

  MR Bridges and Trestles Will give you a basic idea of what to do.

  The other two books are on prototype bridge construction and look at the Canadian Pacific
Railway's high level bridge built at Lethbridge Alberta. It is 5327 Feet in length and stands 314 feet in height. Slightly bigger then the one you would like to model I know, but the design should  be similar. And NO! I would not want to model it in O at 110 feet in length and 6.5 feet in height.

   I am planning a much smaller steel trestle/viaduct myself and have been gathering numerous packs of Central Valley girders, presently have 3or4 O2IT drawers full of them.

The first one covers the history and construction of the bridge in photo's.
The second book is a reprint of the paper 295 presented to the Canadian Society of Civil Engineers in 1909 with plans of the various parts and layout. Also plans for the traveler used to construct bridge and a layout plan for the material yard.

   To add to this, two of the Mitsubishi's 2-10-2's #107 & 119 are being rebuilt for service.

   A long term project is to model two of these engine's after I complete! my Henschel 2-8-2
which is progressing a bit at a time. ender done, working on engine chassis. Along with a
WP&Y two dome tank car and a EdeF P&P (Brazil) tank car.

   Sorry about the confusion, the engine in question is   2FT 6In aka On30.
Will also be using the tips to bulk up a set of Piston Valve cylinders on a Mantua
HO 2-8-2 which is undergoing a rebuild and should result in an 2Ft 6In gauge
Henschel which operates on the Esquel line in Argentina.

Rio Turbio might have there Mitsubishi back in service after rebuilding, which is currently underway.

        My 2cents worth,  A Baldwin 75B Class OF 2-8-2, slightly smaller than a K-27.
  25 were built in 40 days for Argentina in 1923, a couple of which are in service on the Esquel line.

  Not likely anyone would produce the models I have in various stages of construction. <G>
