El Loco, that is the reason I suspect they aren't making a Heisler " any time soon"; as Mr Riley is supposed to have said at the last narrow gauge convention.

Ok. Remember this. You asked for it. ::) ::) T-U means : xxxx up. sorry about that. :o :o :o

Yeah, I do agree. Bachman do know of this problem, but to be fair, they do offer replacement parts for the problem.

But it is probably why they are dead scared of producing a Heisler. Mind you metal gears would solve the problem and that could be sorted out in the production planning stage.

I don't think model railroading is a 'niche' market. It is one of the largest hobby groups in the world. If not the biggest.

On30 / Re: 2 truck - Shay vs Climax

Hi Bob,

If you can get to, have a real good look at the gear trains of both locos at the shop. I mean a  real good. As close as you can.

If you suspect anything point it out to the shopowner. If you are buying it through mail order, well, you pays your money and takes your chances, I'm afraid. Although the mail order shop should honour the purchase and Bachman definately will.

Other wise, I'd go for the Climax as a personal choice. Nice loco. It will negotiate 15" curves as well.

Bachman stuff is great, so welcome to the fun mad world of On30

But we all know we'd :

                                                                    RATHER HAVE A HEISLER !!!!

Sorry, just couldn't help myself there. ;D ;D ;D

Another great place for motors and gears is out of old CD Rom and DVD units.

On30 / Re: Climax problem

Hi Whitty,

That is exactly what I did when the plastic collar split on my Climax drive shaft. Plus I had to fiddle around with the smaller beavelled gears that were malformed to get them to work. All in all, a devil of a job.

BUT to their credit Bachman did send me a pair of new trucks when I asked about the problem. And I live in New Zealand.

On30 / Re: Potential Heisler prototypes for Bachmann!

Hi Alex,,

Bachman are very well aware that a HEISLER is wanted buy many, many On30 modelers. But they don't seem to listen. We've been asking for one for years but to no avail. Maybe they have been scared off due to the problems they have with their Climax and Shay running gear. :o

It was stated at the last narrow gauge convention that they won't be doing one in the forseeable future. Or words to that effect.

Mind you, they are very welcome to use the images of real HEISLERS on my web site below, for inspiration. ;D ;D ;D ;D

Yeah, I know what you mean Max. I'd probably settle for any HEISLER as well. Although, I'd love one about the same size as the Climax. ( I think that's a 28 ton machine ).

I'd sell all of my On30 locos just to have 2 Heislers
