Out of the Box, the vehicles will run on AC or DC and they will always run forward.

Cobra,

When we sell through the first production run, we have been changing the number.if we sell out in the first year, next year we will do a different cab number. If all depends on how long it takes to sell the production run. If something takes a very long time to sell, we will probably discontinue that road name when it finally sells out.

Trainman,

The key phrase of your statement is "some operators". Yes there are some, but very few people are actually purchasing more than one.

When we re-run the same paint scheme we will change the Cab number. We don't offer two at the same time because we always sell out of the first number well before the second. People tend to order the first number on the list. It is not a matter of cost it is the minimum production number required for each unit.

Roger,

We have plenty of sales history that tells us what sells well. New cab numbers have not shown to maintain or increase sales in the Williams line. Sometimes items need to rest for a few years to build up demand. Just because they are out of the catalog this year does not mean they will not be back at a future date.

There are only a few items in our production history that are truly rare.  When customers call the office looking for older items I can usually find them by checking a few dealers or by looking on eBay. The sky is not falling.

Yes, we will post a PDF file of the April items.

Calm down guys.  If you look at the 2013 catalog post from a couple of weeks ago, you will see that I posted that we will announce most new items at April York each year.  Many of the items that have been removed from the catalog have been in the line for many, many years.  Wait until April for the new Williams items.

Hello,

Williams never made this loco. I believe that this is a Weaver loco. People often get us confused with each other since both companies start with a W.

Philly,

New York toy fair is an annual event held at the Javits Center in NYC each February. It is mostly toy items and only a few train companies exhibit. It is an industry only event open to manufacturers, buyers, and retailers. You can go as a guest if you know someone that is one in the industry.

Click for Admission info.

FYI most of the new announcements for Williams will be made in April at the TCA York meet.

671,

Joe is correct. You need to reverse both wires on both motors to make the loco start in reverse. This essentially reverses the polarity of the DC going to the motors. You cannot simply swap the plugs on the reverse board it will not do anything. Additionally, you cannot turn the plug upside down because the plug is keyed for one direction. The easiest way is to release the wires from the plug and change the position of the blue and yellow wires. This loco is wired a little differently previous diesels due to the lighting boards and the lock out switch. I will have to take one apart to refresh my memory, but I think both sets of motor leads go into one plug.  If you follow the motor leads back to the reverse you can verify this. Then unplug the plug or plugs from the reverse board, use a paper clip to depress the locking pin on the side of the plug and GENTLY pull the pin from the socket. Reverse the position of the pins connected to the yellow and blue wires and the loco will start in reverse.  We are attending the Amherst show this weekend, so I will try to do a step by step tutorial with photos on the frequently asked questions section of the board when we get back.

OR if you are only running GP30's, they have a lockout switch, so lock one in reverse and the other in forward when you start your operating session.

Joe,

I think they were late 1980's.  I did a quick look through my old paperwork, but could not find any.  You might squeeze O-42, but I doubt anything less.  If the box says O-54 than that is probably the minimum.  I think these 80 fts were only made once.  We made the Superliners in 80ft several times. If I find the flyer, I will post the info.

Hi Guys,

Unless a major show develops in one of your areas, the best bet of us visiting your area would be a World's Greatest Hobby. www.wghshow.com or the annual NMRA convention http://www.nmra.org/convention/.  Typically, we need a show with attendance of 5,000 people or more to justify the expense of attending.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the input; it is always appreciated. However, I would not hold my breath for these. Over the past 10 years, we have seen a big decline in the demand for dummy units. Additionally, the lighting board is dependent on the reverse board, so the cost would be much closer to the powered units than in the past. I would advise buying a second powered unit.

Dear All,

We made several production runs of Nickel Plate GP-9s just prior to Bachmann purchasing the assets of Williams. Keep looking on eBay, train shows, and Dealers with "new" old stock. There should be plenty of them out on the secondary market.
