Last trip I took on the City of New Orleans from Yazoo City to New Orleans we actually left on time and arrived in New Orleans 15 minutes early only had to go into the hole once on the IC southbound main and that was a moving meet neither train had to come to a complete stop and the next short stopwas at Manchac as the lowered the draw bridge for us to cross. Ride was very smooth to my suprise. Next leg after supper on board the Steamboat Natchez in New Orleans (yes had to get some steam in this post) was from New Orleans to Houston TX on the Sunset Limited, nothing but delays, from the time we crossed the Huey P Long Bridge to Houston and man what some rough track. Near Houma I was in the dining car and the steward came through telling everyone to please hold on to our drinks I looked at him kinda funny he said Steve trust me this aint the IC. We hit the switch at 10 mph felt like it was at 40 mph way the car shook going over the swith points then the steady clank clank of very loose bolted rail joints. I was glad I wasn't drinking coffee or eating soup. We finally arrived in Houston 3 hours late thanks to the UP and BNSF.

Oh and speaking of areoplanes my last flight to England started of with me boarding a prop plane in Jackson, MS for the hop over to Houston I had a wing seat and those big engines were music to my ears.

;D It's time to retire the IHC track cleaning caboose. I let the new rail Guard make about 5 loops on my little 4x8 as I upload more detailed shots if IC 2542 and already notice a differance.

Thanks Gus great product

And Amtrak killed the Southern Cresent, That train hasn't been on time since the Southern RY last ran it. 2nd Shot is at Popularville, MS 1979. Same thing with the Illinois Central's Cityof New Orleans.

Oh well,

Hi Dusten, I am Swarri1350 on AIM, sorry no 3 footers left in MS no five footers either when the IC and the Y&MV got through on that famous day in 1886 when they standard gauged over 400 of track in one day not many other gauges were left by 1920 the two main RRs in MS was the IC and the Y&MV plus a few others.

;D Hi Mr. Bachmann I sure will enjoy it. I see they got the Fernwood Columbia and Gulf listed. One of my states old narrow gauge logging lines. It Connected with the IC in South MS. At one time MS had more than 500 miles in logging lines the state looked like a giant spider web.

http://steve.bill--porter.com/glory_days.htm Some of the old photos and postcards in my collection I got two wall maps thatI would need a huge scanner for dated back in the 1880's of the Railroad scene in MS.

Hi Dusten,

All our Narrow guage lines have been gone for years since the great logging boom in the Yazoo Delta died out in the 1920s, mostly 3 foot guage. Some of our oldest lines did start life as narrow guage in the 1850s and a few broad gauge lines of the 5 foot variety. All of the early lines were converted to standard guage durning the 1880's.

My grand father and his brother did own two, two truck shays  that looked exactly like the Bachmann LS two truck shay near Grand Gulf in the 1920s and a saw mill. All the photos that family had of the operation was lost in the 1950s in a house fire and I lost my grandpa whenI was just 3. I have Train sim but don't run itas much as all my add ons are on a hard drive sitting on my desk I am waiting on a friend to help me install it soon soI wil have my IC route back and my Mountains again.

If you Have AIM send me a message and we can chatI am on most nights chatting with friends. I ain't like alot of adults Iwill chat trains to anyone that wants to chat about Railroads and steam I love RR history.

Thank you Mr. Bachamnn please feel free to lock or delete this post. I stated my reasons for liking the feature and if you don't like it then thats your cup of tea.

I also keep a Railroad database of everything I own in HO and G scales with the price I paid, maybe its my German side rubbing off on me as much asmy Irish side tends to get my temper flared up.

Ahh, Thank you again Mr.Bachmann, for your quick reply, one reason why I stick around and wade through some of the muck we get stuck in at times like Mississippi Gumbo mud. Its thick is slimey and hell on traction even when you got a 45 tonner on rails lol.

I accept what ever the powers that be may choose.

Once again thank you for your time.
