ModelTrainStuff.com has many discounts on Thomas items, Henry in perticular is $69.99 which is $59 off of retail price. I have bought the Red Coaches from them for $22 a piece. No clue where you live but shipping was $6.70.

As for the Flatcar with paint drums, I have 2 of them but are not willing to trade them. I did however find them on ebay not to long ago for about $29. (thats how I got the second one)

Track however is a bit different, i know you said any brand but would you want snap track or flex track? I would do a search on Ebay and search low to high.

The doors are not actually spring loaded... They are just centered by gravity. They are very light so with does not do damage to the Thomas loco's, in fact, I have ran the NKP heritage unit, K4 and NKP 765 through the doors and there have not been any damage to the locos.

^ Above 1 Reply - @Reply #58 By Rickenbacker 325: I know that I am not staff on this Forum, but the new Bachmann Toad's tolling has been taken from the Bachmann Branch-Line range, which is the UK Bachmann range of Bachmann Plc.

Toad having this coupiling is to do with the tooling being taken from the UK Bachmann range, but whether or not this becomes permanent with the Thomas & Friends range is a different story. I would like to, as the coupilings being more slimmer from the UK range is more realistic.
I know this already, thats why I was asking them  ;)

I have the Nickel Plate version of the ES44, I love this engine and the sounds are amazing. The recommended radius is 22" but I have been about to run it with a train on a 18" S curve with no problems. The only problem I had is that when I first got the engine programmed to is number, I was using a friends layout with MRC and it ran great, but when I went to run it on either DC or another DCC layout it wouldn't budge. I had to do a factory reset on it and runs like a dream on anything. Pulling power is average with about 25-30 cars with no wheel slip up a 1.5 degree grade.

I have a question for the Bachmann or Yardmaster only. I saw a video of Toad and he has a slimmer coupler than the rest of the range. Is this going to be the new coupler coming with all new rolling stock or is this just a one time thing?

Not trying to beat a dead horse here, but I would like to give my predictions for the toy fair.

HO scale:
Paxton, I feel would be a not so obvious choice but then again would be a smart choice seeing that there would be no new tooling having to be made except for the face. My second cousin loves him and is his favorite 'new' engine in the show. I personally like him this season especially.
Stanley/Rosie, This one is a toss up for me. They have both been seen as background characters as of late but I did hear that Stanley will be having a new voice actor and more lines in season 20. Rosie would also be a good choice as it would be the 3rd female engine brought in to the range.
For rolling stock, ehhh. Let this one be a surprise. TT#5, maybe...

G scale:
Edward, seeing that they can't really go much bigger than Emily, Edward would be the next best choice. He would go around tight corners no problem and I think would look great with a CGI face. But seeing that even Winson was a surprise last year, I guess anything can happen!
Mavis, I know there will be only one engine announced but Mavis would be a good choice with all of the open wagons they have come out with.
Rolling stock wise I would love to see a flat car of some type, whether it be like the paint car or the other smaller one(cant remember the name of it). A friend of mine would love to see the Mail Vans for Percy to pull.

Narrow Gauge:
I would say slate trucks and some type of break van. I am not seeing a new engine in the range until next year honestly.

Like I said peoples opinions will differ. I know of some people that also use the different expressions from Trackmaster and even T'n'P which isnt the right size but still can be used.

Racing James, I have done this with my Thomas. It is very easy to do but you will have to cut the wooden face off and tack it or glue it on to Thomas. You will also have to take the eye mechanism out of him, not just the eyes. I have put in some weights in mine so it pulls more. I have also seen people use the 2013 wooden battery powered Thomas face mask and I believe that is just held on by a screw. I personal prefer the Bachmann face compared to the Hornby one but I can see where peoples opinions can differ. Hope this helps!!

HO / Re: HO scale first real layout questions

Thanks for your responses! I will look at my hobby shop for the different rail jointers as well as the switch stands. I have downloaded the Xtrack but seems to not open on my MacBook. I will download it again when I get home from work and try it again.

Edit: Got home to my computer not letting me open the file because of an unauthorized website.

HO / HO scale first real layout questions
January 11, 2016, 03:09:31 PM
Hello again! I have decided to take some of the utility room in my basement to finally build a layout. I have been using Bachmann nickel silver track for my table layout and wanted to change over to Code 83 tracks. I want to build this layout like a modular layout so that I can be taken out when I move. I have seen videos on YouTube about this but had some questions that were not answered.

How easy would it be to go from Code 83 to Code 100? I ask this because I have a Bachmann DCC turntable and custom painted roundhouse from the Thomas range that I would still like to use.

Are there any free demos for a Mac that I can use? I looked and all the ones I saw are for PC.

I would like to have a yard that can hold modern freight up to 70 feet and walthers passenger cars up to 85 feet. The longest section of the room would hold this and would be roughly 16' by 2' or if I could fit it 16' by 3'. I have some bachmann crossovers and have an idea about number 6 and number 4 switches.  I am planning to have 2 main lines that are 30" and 28" radius curves and I wanted mainline switches to be number 6 or 8's and yard to be number 4's so i can fit more. Would those longer cars be able to work on number 4's?

Last question/opinions needed, (sorry that there are so many!) I would like to make the yard switches manual and would either go with peco or atlas switches. I have heard mixed reviews on both of them and would like more opinions on them here.

Thanks in advance!!

HO / DC/DCC compatible issue
December 30, 2015, 10:33:31 PM
I brought my NKP 8100 and NKP 765 to a friends DCC layout today, he ran and programmed them to their numbers and everything was fine. I came home to my DC layout, put them on the tracks and neither of them will not move or with they light up. 8100 however does play the prime mover sound only. I have not had an issue with this before as I worked at a club and have had my other engines numbered and they work fine on my layout. Any help with be awesome!
