Thomas & Friends / Re: Image of Duck Posted!!!!!!

Duck also seems to have a black thing on top of his safety-valve cover (the green cone-shaped thing in front of the whistle), which wasn't present on the TV series model. Maybe it's just the lip of the cover in black, I don't know.

Despite his minor niggles, Duck looks terrific. Everything looks spot-on as to how he appeared in the series, and the face was an excellent choice.

The minor things will no doubt be corrected by the time Duck here hits shelves. And knocks down the doors, and some tables, and even display cases. Why? Well, because there is an engine crashing into a model train shop.  :P

At least the owner won't have shaving cream on hand this time!

I think the sheds would look more closed-in than normal if you got all those stalls for it, but at least your engines would be well accommodated.  :)

I think, with the number of add-on stalls you'd need to get, that it might just be better to get a second full Tidmouth sheds set, and use the extra turntable somewhere else on your layout. Just my thought.

Very clever, Mr. Bachmann.
Very amusing too.

Actually, that last one was from "Down the Mine".
Yours is from "Percy's Promise".

If we're sticking just to the classics, then I agree completely with ModelTrainFan538's predictions.
The red coaches, passenger and brake, would be marvelous. I would fully expect Trevor to come along soon, to finish off the S2 wave of non-rail characters, and I'm surprised at the signals- don't know why I didn't think of them before. They are certainly needed for the range.

The Bachmann James needs those oddly excluded parts (red part under smokebox, wheels, etc) licked up in black, and an open cab if at all possible :3
Percy could also benefit from having a few modifications. Other than his face, Thomas looks fine as-is. :)

I would only add the inclusion of the Multipurpose (Scrap/Tree/Log) Bogied Wagons seen in Seasons 2 & 3 (and more recently in CGI as well), or the China Clay Wagons, which are essentially shorter versions of this truck.

If we weren't keeping to strictly 'classic characters/stock', I'd go with the flow and say Arry and Bert would follow soon, considering how easy it has been for others to modify the Bachmann Diesel body to make the two. One modeler in particular comes to mind.

I would also like it if perhaps a character not released by either of the two HO/OO Thomas model making companies to come to light, the likes of Rosie and Stanley come to mind, mostly because I really like them. However, I believe it wouldn't just be Thomas modelers and young ones picking up these from their local hobby store. I could see many getting their hands on Rosie to convert her to a USA Dock Tank, and Stanley would just require a lick of new paint and a smokebox door to convert him to a new industrial tank engine. I mean, there is already a model of his prototype in O gauge, and that seems to be doing well- imagine the possibilities for OO/HO gauge! :D

I looked closely at the leaflet, and we see we have a official stock list for the first year

-Wilson
-Koko
-Brewster
-Box Car
-low sided wagon
-flat wagon
-hopper
-passenger carriage
- Vee

More rolling stock but less other things than thomas' first year

I wonder what the 'low sided wagon' will look like.
I imagine most of the bogies on the wagons will look similar to the bogies on the Talking Chuggington toys. Should be interesting to see how they will turn out.
Who knows, maybe with a little modification, the wagons will be useful for adding on to the Thomas range as well...

I was just as surprised at the idea of Chuggington in HO.
Might be interesting to see how they do the coupling system, and the coupling rods on Pete(if they do decide to release him).
I would think that the main 3 would be released, plus a small variety of ridiculous rolling stock, a massive caboose, and figurines of the few human characters.
Then, if the range's popularity increased, Pete, Harrison, and possibly Action Chugger most likely would follow.
I'd love to see how they would pull off Action Chugger, or if the eyes on the characters would move like the Thomas engines.

The Large-Scale Thomas items look great, they really nailed Emily's face. Glad to see SCRuffey in a darker grey, and the NW on the brake van is a welcome surprise- glad they're listening!

So far, so good!
TV-Daisy's front looks the part, though I do wonder why the buffer beam was ever that low..

Those are some really nice ideas, especially the "Hard at Work set". And there is a signal box in the range. :)
Thanks to the first :)
Just remembered that there is a TNP set like that, but without the oval of track.
As a matter of fact, got it as winnings from a contest today..!

Didn't know there was one. Box looks okay to me..

Sparks, I think your wishlist is quite nice. I would expect, out of the three sets, Mavis' to become a reality. Pax has proven a great, fresh character, and I wouldn't mind seeing those scrap wagons either.

Shawn's right. A set with two engines would be far too expensive.

The idea for a works coach is good, but the way I see it, there will be at most two sets this year..

.. one with an engine(Thomas, Percy, Toby, or maybe Diesel) and some stock(a open wagon, a closed wagon, a flat car, and/or that works unit coach) with a loop of track(maybe a siding?), and a Christmas or other holiday themed set with Thomas and repainted trucks. And a huge, out of scale figurine.

Yep.

Thomas & Friends / Re: Modifying faces
September 15, 2012, 02:35:22 PM
It is possible to create a mold of the face, make a copy, and modify that- other modelers in the Thomas community have done so, such as Knuckles/Sparkshot of Youtube and SiF, and the user "Stepney the 'Bluebell' Engine" here(creator of the "Railway Stories from Sodor" series on Youtube).

They and other modelers have loads of face-making experience under their belts, they would be the best to ask in this situation.

Hope I was of any help :)

Me too. Every day I keep expecting someone to upload video of Duck, partially finished, on display. It's nerve-wracking sometimes.

I hope he gets a proper face.. like the closed smile with the half-moon eyes. That was one of my favorite Duck faces back in the day.
