On30 / Re: New 2-6-0's DCC/Sound ready?
March 12, 2010, 04:06:31 PM
Nathan,

I have the new catalogue in front of me. There is NO mention of dcc in the description at all for any of the 3 the 2-6-0s.

The only new things I can see are:

.  2 door baggage car in Burgandy and Black

.  Combine Car in Burgandy and Black

.  Observation Car in Burgandy and Black AND Olive Green

.  Jackson and Sharp Coach in Burgandy and Black

All the above are Unlettered

There's also a Boxcar : Christmas Fruitcake Car ( but it is a Willams car shown)

A Stock Car : D&RGW in black

And that's about it.

Would the Bachman On30 Inside Frame 4-4-0 American tender fit behind a cut down Forney made into an 2-4-0?

Just thought.

All they would then need to do is make a new cab and cab floor. Now that wouldn't take too much tooling , would it?

On30 / Re: Small 0n30 layout needed
March 05, 2010, 12:48:17 AM
I've done that sort of thing with my layout. I can run any scale on the 16.5mm track from HO to Gn15. I just change a few buildings, figures etc and I'm good to go, although it is an On30 layout for the most of the time. Handy stuff, this 16.5mm track.

Dasher. It's not only in the USA, but world wide. On30 guys and gals always seem to be having fun doing this scale; from New Zealand ( where I live ) to the UK to South Africa, Asia the Americas.  ;D ;D It only seems to get better !!!!

On30 / Re: Bachman dcc decoder question
January 28, 2010, 03:06:44 PM
Thanks for that, guys. I have ordered a Bachman decoder so will have at least a  dcc equipped Climax if I decide to sell it or get a dcc system sometime in the future.

On30 / Bachman dcc decoder question
January 27, 2010, 06:30:48 PM
To those who know about these things,

I want to add a dcc decoder to my Climax. If I add a Bachman 8 pin plugged decoder to the loco will I still be able to run it on a dc layout as well without frying the decoder? And will it improve the operation of the model? The lokey is dcc ready ( and waiting)

Thanks

Lindsay

In NZ we don't use the word either. He just hadn't heard anyone use the word for years and years.

What is the meaning of the word anyway? In the railway sence, that is.

On30 / Re: Potential Heisler prototypes for Bachmann!
January 18, 2010, 07:33:16 PM
At the size and scale that Bachman have put out their Climax and Shay, we are looking at an " I " beam framed lokey of about 20-28 tons.

The Westside Heislers are 'diamond' framed  for lockeys over about 40 or so tons which would seem to be way too heavy for the types of railways we seem to create. :-\ :-\

But having said that, any proper scaled for On30/On3 Heisler would be more than welcome. Those Ho/oo conversions don't do it for me, being way too small in the wheel department. >:( >:( I converted 2 for 'S ' scale and even then they were begining to get rather small

Heave,

So, you are driving yourself crazy. Sounds like you are procrastinating. It's a vicious cycle being driven crazy and procrastinating.

The only thing to do is to sit down at you work bench,  start playing around with materials and see what happens. That my friend is the hardest part of model making : starting. There, I have let you into the biggest secret of model making.

Get going, learn from your mistakes and have a great time doing it. That how everyone does it.

Lindsay.
