Speaking of LED's and Radio Shack..

In the 10 days my kids have been home from school they have managed to crash my computer and all my archives are gone.

Joey and I have been getting the WBB F-3's ready to replace the "headlite's)"to LED to brighten them up and now I can't reference where I can pick up the bulbs or what kind I need.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

You got that right by the time you got the cancer from eating the trainset, the parts would rip up your G.I. Tract something fierce first!!!!!

I think only Navy Seals and Army Rangers can safely handle that!!!!!!!!!

Dear Bobwrgt

That''s the best story!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a present you were smart enough to get over to the ER!!!!

Which artery was 100% blocked ? If it is what they call  the LAD(it's not a light bulb) then you really had a good guardian angel looking after you because in medicine it's called the "Widow maker".

Have great Holiday and treat yourself well!!!!

I forgot to add Joey just turned 10 last month. So for 6 years we have been having alot of fun together.

On another thread I ranted about how Joey went from having some reading difficulty coming out of Kindergarden and by 2nd grade was reading at a 6th Grade level!!!!!!!!!!!!

When his teachers asked what we did I said we read train magazines, books and work on his "Train Layout".

THis hobby actually GIVES to us a lot more than the joy, fun, and pleasure of our particpation.

In a recent book Neil Young wrote Right off the bat from chapter one he talks about model trains and what it has done for his autistic child. We the hobbyists have benefited SO much from what Neil Young did for his son.

It truly is a 2 way street. The gold also lies in the lasting memories and friendships we make. I can say everywhere I go when I visit a hobby shop and start chatting with other train folks, they are nice people and always willing to help out with a question about a particular item wiring etc.

I always enjoyed Neil Young's music I have enjoyed him even more since learning what hobby he loves. I personally believe his input helped save an industry that was in a crisis.

Anyway hope to read more stories

Thanks always for sharing!!!!!!!

I am glad for the forum and those asking about the smoke.

In this day and age with GMO foods, aluminum and mercury laced vaccines coming from China, Geo-engineered vapor trails with Boron,Berilium and aluminum particles, I too would be curious about the smoke fluid used on my "Toy Trains"!!

The mineral Oil residue which gets"popped" onto the locomotives and some of the rolling stock never bothered me as I wipe it off with a soft bristle paint brush and I think it helps "nourish" the plastic.

I believe based on what I have looked into and 15 years of the "practice"of medicine, as well as all the chit-chatting I like to do with hobbyists from all over the States and Europe I believe the stuff to be relatively safe.

Would I put it in my coffee. NO would it hurt if I did I don't think so but you sure would free up your constipation with that mineral oil and Glycerin!!!

Thanks GG-1 and everyone I always enjoy hearing what you folks have to say!!!

This is mymost favorite hobby!!!

Merry Christmastide and Happy New Year I hope I helped. ::) ::)

Glycerin also has a "slippery" componet to it too.

Once again I wouldn't be concerned about the smoke residue from the above mentioned ingredients in the smoke liquid.
The heat element in the steamer has already caused the break down of the liquid to water, carbon dioxide and other minuscule elements.

You have more to worry about from your drinking water with the fluoride and chlorine in it!!!!

I love California, it's a beautiful state great weather, GREAT wines!!! but the wacky politicians have turned it into a "Koo-Koo Ward".

Almost anything given in massive doses for very long extended time periods could cause cancer.

Those chemicals in that liquid smoke are water soluble will break down in the liver and will filter out through the kidney. and that is if your child in jested the stuff. As any good concerned parent it's good to ask questions. If you are concerned , next time it happens just clean out his nose with a washcloth with warm water a little soap.

Hope that helps!!

Sorry to hear about your parents passing on Christmas.

My Mother in Laws' Dad and Brother both died on Christmas Day. They were fishermen in Galway Ireland and a hugh storm came up and they both ran out to the harbor to beach the boat and they drowned.

There is a old Catholic lore that says that those that die on Christmas Day go to Heaven.

Dean Martin died on Christmas Day. I grew up listening to his music as my parents loved him and Frank Sinatra.

Losing a parent is always a big blow. I know it was for me. What's interesting is my 5th child a son was born in the same year my Dad died. That kid loved trains from a early age at at age 4 found my Dad's trains which I had packed away and kept opening the boxes and wanted me to set them up. I did have a G-Scale train for around the Christmas tree but did not have a permanent set up. Well because of Joey we set up  Dad's trains and having those locomotives come to "life" again really brought back a lot of memories. Since then we have added a lot more pieces( mostly Bachmann !!-Thanks Bachmann) and are having a lot of fun making new memories, telling stories about my Dad and "Uncle Joe" who he is named after, who also would come over and help us build mountains and paint them as he was a professional artist.

Thanks for sharing your story.

I just want to say Ditto about WBB.

I too have a whole bunch of F-3's, a couple F-7's, steamers and now a few GP-30's. My son comes home from school

and runs the trains for a good hour or more almost every school day and then we run them together about 15-20 minutes before bedtime. On weekends whenever we can we run them while I do paperwork or do chores in the basement.

The WBB keep on running and shame on me I am behind on my oil and lube schedule.

My only recommendation to WBB which to their credit they addressed with the GP-30's was brighter lighting with the LED's I am happy with it. In addition a little better sound system on the steamers like the Horse Shoe Curve Steamer from "L" and better smoke units with on off switch.

That's it!!!

The fair pricing has allowed me to "Indulge" with multiple units like F-3's and GP-30's.The quality is really impressive as my son Joey has not caused a "causality"to any of the units.(yet)

I am looking forward to the RS-3's with the Seaboard being first on our "get" list!!!!.
