On30 / Re: Prototype for a new On30 Shay
September 03, 2017, 11:23:13 AM

There a surprising number of 30" gauge SHAYS still around, at least 18 some operational, most on display
from B Class 20-2, B Class 42-2  up to a C Class  60-3.( personal favorite)

Although 23&1/2" gauge the Left Hand Drive SHAYS for San Luis de la Paz  # 757, 758, 836, 827 wold be neat to
operate and confuse people.

Enjoyed the videos on the Burma Mines Railway, have to finish a Boxcar from Peru, then get my Rotary finished, before I tackle the BMR  Tank car shown in the video, crying out to be modelled. Collecting pieces for it, a bit at a time.

HO / Re: Building a New Layout

Having worked in a couple of power plants, and visited a few, I could only wish for the amount of lighting that you have installed. The first power plant I worked in, two of the boiler's had been coal fired, but had been  converted to Bunker D, when I started there  in mid 1967. It was dark, dingy  and still had traces of left over Coal in places. Even if it had windows you would not be able to see out of them other then at ground level, where
they may have been cleaned.

On the other hand, The Power Plant for the City of Medicine Hat (Gas fired) had window boxes of flowers in each of the lower windows.

OK so what's with the STOP sign on the roof of the adjacent structure?

Yet another great find, may have to model the interlock tower in the first video, to funky to pass up.
No need for one but I like it.

I ran into the same problem with a couple of in progress On30 engines, would need a 15 in TT, will likely need
to install a wye. On the bright side the prototype engines were welded construction, so no need to worry about
rivets <G>.

Very impressive loco, might the next project be a larger Turntable for the layout?

When Bachmann Europe release their Ransome & Rapier 45 Ton Breakdown Crane (ROCKY prototype) it may
be worth a look at for conversion . Possibly Bachmann US could piggy back production and add the faces?.

  To add

The Lethbridge Historical Society has published two books on the Bridge. The first has a selection of construction
progress photos, the second is a reprint of the talk given to the Canadian Society of Civil Engineers  in 1909, with a series of plans for components of the bridge.

On30 / Re: Are we ever going to see a 3 truck Shay?
November 17, 2016, 10:34:57 AM

Lima built 6  60Ton 3 truck SHAYs for Braden Copper Co for service in Chile for their Copper Mine, along with
9 42 ton 2 truck, 1 45 Ton 2 truck.

SHAYlocomotives.com will have photos of them. The 3 truck engine's were SN 2753,2801,2876,2877,3013,3341
3341 was the last ng SHAY built f I recall correctly.

Bachmann Europe plans to release a WW1 Baldwin 4-6-0T in HOn30 , a fair number were sold for service on Sugar Cane and Sugar Beat line, likely they could also have been used for a mining Rly.

Another company (cannot recall who ) plans to issue a WW1 Alco 2-6-2T, also in HOn30.

On30 / Re: How about adding a 2-6-0. an 8-18d 2-6-0

A 60ton 3truck would suit me fine, as their were at least 6 built for 2&1/2 Ft gauge (aka On30), could use one for my Copper mine.
