Large / Re: Sand dome removal from Connie

Just keep twisting the top cap of the sand dome, it will eventually come off.  Just to make sure, the sand dome is the smaller of the two.  There is glue there so it will snap, crakle, and pop (sorry Kellogs) until it comes off.

From what I hear, since I do not own one, is that the Plug and Play (PNP) board which is said to work with everything works with very little without some work.  Now maybe the second run of Ks will have a fixed board........oh....right.....run #2 was canceled.  I wonder why :P  Anyway, the engine is a good one, I have run it once and it is a very good puller.  The only downside to the K, is the stupid PNP board that doesn't work.  Sadly this is the same board that is in the new Mallet.  You know, what is that saying.....if it works, don't touch it.  Bachmann, your locomotives were great, and they still are, hence they worked......so why did you touch it? >:(

You have to call the service department from what I hear.  I hear that they never answer their email.

Welcome to the G-Scale Hobby!!!!

(1) Not fully sure cause I use battery RCS

(2) If you leave the smoke unit on and it runs out of smoke fluid, you will burn up the filment inside the smoke unit.

(3) Accucraft, USA Trains, and MTH, make a Big Boy.  They are aleast near 5feet long, not sure the exact lenght cause I have never really look at getting one.  Bachmann is making a 2-6-6-2 Mallet sometime this year (at least by the end of next year)

Another beauty about RCS, to add to calenelson last post, is that you can multiple locomotive and only one control.  Meaning that, my two locomotives have different recieving codes, but the same frequency so I only have to buy one controller.  When I run them (only one at a time mind you), I just have to make sure that the recieving code is the same as the locomotive's.  Saves some money.

RCS is simple to do.  I have two Bachmann locomotives (2-8-0 and 2T Shay), both have been done by Goodson, and I have never had a problem with them.....unless you count not charging them ::) my bad......  I have looked at the inside the tender of the 2-8-0 to see the RCS, it looks scary at first, but if you just follow the wires one at a time, it makes since, and looks easy.  My next engine, which sadly  :'( will not be a Bachmann due to the new, great, crappy (to be polite) "SUPER" socket >:(, I will do the RCS myself.

When I search the Bachmann forum I can find nothing about what they are talking about here so I thought I would ask.

This is because the posts keep getting deleated :-\

The cars are mostly Bachmann with a few other manufactures.  But none are AMS.

I also thought that all Big Haulers were 1:22.5 ???  If this is suppose to be a narrow gauge car, then 1:22.5 would be the scale.  But, the Milwaukee Road is a standard gauge railroad, not narrow gauge.

The item number is #97415, and here is a photo of the car:
