does one address the package to Bachmann Customer service or Bachmann Service Department ?
Just do not wish for my locomotive to get lost in the wrong Dept.

The 2-10-0 that i purchased is marked on the side of the box in goldleaf
Tsunami sound technology by Soundtrax with 16 bit processor.
I would agree if Tsunami sound/technology is not mentioned it may be a lessor sound processor, but from what i've been reading the latest models in the Spectrum line should be Tsunami equipted.

What some have done was to get a box long enough to house the engine  & tender permanetly  connected.
I find some of the box's microphone's come in are perfect. maybe some others here have other idea's.

I know the decoder is a soundtrax tsunumie but the Bachmann instructions that came with the loco show only a breakdown diagram of the engine itself no mention or instructionspertaining to the decoder.....must be a big ass secret ;D
Or maybe I'm just a moron!......clean forgot they gave me a CD with oodles of information on it...... ::)

Where did you buy your Spectrum with the Tsunami decoder? Which engine do you have?

My locomotive is the Russian Decapod ,bought it from Micro-mark.
They also have a DCC/ Tsunami sound equipted light 2-10-2 in several roadnames.

I too bought a Bachmann H.O 2-10-0 from Micro Mark with the same results.
This one of the DCC/Sound equipted locomotives, Ran beautifully for about 40 ft.....then it went stone cold dead ??? .Have to say the sound which still works is truly awesome, but obvious Bachmann has quality control issues that have failed miserable, Imagine a locomotive that costs between $150-$200 that looks and sounds this beautiful unable to in many case's even run right out of the box.
After reading this thread and seeing a similar problem involving a Bachmann Lt 2-10-2 belonging to another club member I'm wondering what the Odd's are of exchanging it for one that will run properly as it should...... or should i just get a refund and look at another brand of locomotive.

And yes the repair instructions here may be very helpful but on something brand new right out of the box!......again' Quality control people!! It shouldn't have to be our responsability to correct the manufacturer's production screwups. >:(

There are several of the Bachmann locimotives that come equipted with DCC & Sound.....like the man said check the Micromark website.
The sound decoder being used is the soundtrax tsuami....and its freaking fantastic!!
The Bachmann said that sound in the 4-4-0 & 4-6-0 could happen in the near future....lets keep our fingers crossed....

Is it possible that the sound DCC 2-8-0 has the wires coming from the loco to the tender in order to make more room for decoder and speaker?  If so, I guess one can only try to tuck the too long wires into the boiler shell.
This goes back to uniformity!
Gene

This is correct, the Spectrum DCC/Sound equiped locos have the wire harness protuding from the under frame of the engine not the tender.
Advice was given to also cement a small 1/4' piece of plastic to the rear of the frame which will hold the wires up out of harms way keeping them from snagging anything. that plus a bit of weight in the front of the tender and you should be good to go!!

Yeh' think they were called a Onion stack, If I recall correctly Precision scale or Kemtron listed one  a few years back in the Walthers catalog....I think!
