Well my train stuff arrived last week but we were leaving to go to the Chattanooga Choo Choo for the weekend and we had a blast , it was really great , we slept in an old Victorian train car converted into rooms and took a little train ride and visited the model museum ...man it was great but here are a few pics of the presents for my little guys Christmas ... up first is the unlettered Pere Marquette then the consolidated from the set...can't wait for Christmas and pics of Chattanoogs will follow in a day or two

I read on here that spectrum kinds over lubes them during manufacturing ...is this the case or should they be lubed before break in , also they seem kinda slow compared to some videos of other ho scale trains...will they get any faster after break in, or, will dcc make them any faster

Well I made a few laps with both locos and after a few laps each they started to make noise like they were dry so I will get some oil and contact lube in Chattanooga this weekend and did I read that somebody files the edges of the rail just a tad because I can see where it would help, forward was no problem but reverse would seem to hit a bump sorta and with the finger rub test I could barley feel a little bump that lite filing would fix

HO / bigger track
December 02, 2009, 09:07:18 PM
ok so the train set and the Pere Marquette arrived today and after seeing them in person without even running them I can tell that the 18" radius will be a stretch... the set came with 22" radius so what is the next bigger curve that will allow a double oval and I'm guessing #6 turnouts as the P.M. is quite long and won't take tight curves as are the passenger cars that came with the set...they barely fit on a single piece of straight track with no room for motion
