where two pieces of track meet...it creates a little bump where the track does not meet perfect because of tiny variances in manufacturing/floor- table  surface conditions

decided to get a right and left crossover by Bachmann to stay with the rest of the track...how many people use different types of track on the same layout

they are 21" long according to the two I just bought , since they are 21" I told the wife that the regular straights are 9" so two would make only 18" so we would have to have both to keep things balanced... as far as width I have no idea

sorry the engines are the consolidated 2-8-0 and the Pere Marquette 2-8-4 , both are Bachmann, new and made about 3-4 lapes each on the oval that came with the New York Express set...so the little tiny bumps at the rail joiners won't hurt anything

I have heard or read on here that the consolidated and/or the Pere Marquette either have trouble on the 18" radius or the #4 turnouts but I can't remember which/both

26" radius should work on the outside.
with the #6 crossovers? would 18" radius work as well

I also have a 22" radius loop and was wondering if I should go with a 18" radius or would 26" radius work with the same crossovers because I have been told that the engines I have, have trouble on the 18" radius or is that just the #4 turnouts ... I would like to order tonight to have by Christmas

HO / engines making noise

I received the new set and a new engine last week and ran them just a few times each around the oval and after the few laps both started making a grinding/scraping sound, everything is new and they were not pulling any cars , just the engine and tenders...do they need to be serviced/oiled and greased , I read on hear that Spectrum kinda over does it in the lube department , so I would not think they would need to be serviced as they are both new ...also what type of file is used to file the tips of the track to prevent the tiny bump at connections

well we just got the explorer New York Express set which comes with the ez track , so I already have a 63 by 45 oval and I just want to add to it for Christmas morning , its for my little boy ... making a permanent layout will come later , I just want the wow factor on the 25th...maybe enough to make a somewhat bigger set up for the magic morning

Yes, if you are willing/needing to buy 50 or 100 of a given piece of track.
please explain
