I think mine would have pulled a couple of more than the 12 it did...but I've noticed that sound decoders seem to get hotter when the sound is turned on...that with pulling too many cars worries me that it might overheat with possible bad consequences. I'm satisfied with it pulling 8-9 cars as a switcher.
I don't think you need to worry about overheating the decoder, I work my 2-6-0 much harder than this (heavy grades, long runs, long trains) and never have had any issue with decoder shut down.

Send it in to Bachmann for warranty repairs, instructions are here.

Pretty rare to see issues with the 3 truck.

Does anyone know the minimum radius that the Bachmann Alco Mogul engine can handle? I have a small layout with some 17" curves that I'd like to use a Mogul on, but don't want to invest in a small engine that can't be used. I like the looks and sound of the ATSF #9441.

It will handle a 17" radius, I have an area that is 15" radius, no issues at all.

I have the same engine, ATSF 9441  :)

This link shows how to do it on the On30 version, comparing it to my HO scale Climax, it appears the design is the same. Let us know.

Just shot this short video of my new Sound value Mogul after shopping to convert her to be oil fired by replacing the coal bunker with a home built oil bunker.
Its in hi def so go to full screen if you wish.....

I picked one up last week, I must say I am quite impressed with its performance.

Good job Bachmann, keep the good ideas coming!

Has anyone added dcc to the spectrum GE 44 ton switcher?  O conclude sound is impossible.

I used a Tsunami TSU-750 decoder and 2 speakers, (827014    tsu-750 GE Cummins Diesel Switcher) remove the board and toss it for more room, and wire the decoder direct. So yes it can be done.
Good soldering skills, heat shrink tubing and kapton tape are recommended. The speakers mount under each hood with double sided tape. I replaced the headlight with LED's

If your are not comfortable a good hobby shop can do it for you.

It appears you have to remove the 4 screws on the bottom of the truck to access the gears and axles, but not to remove the truck. Looking at the breakdown, you may to remove the boiler/cab/tenders to access the screw from the top of the chassis to remove the truck(s)? I'm not sure to what extent you have to work on the pickups.

Yes, they will most likely send you a new loco instead of repairing yours. See the warranty section here.

This is the first problem I have heard of with this loco.

As Jonathan suggested, a couple of swipes on each side of the Kadee on a file will do the trick.

sorry for not specifying, it's a three truck climax.

This will be the first 3 truck I have heard about, are you positive it's a gear(s)?  At any rate, send it to Bachmann for warranty replacement.
I have had mine almost a year, and use it quite often, no problems.

Sorry to hear you had a problem, please let us know what the problem is with it.
