HO / Re: manual switch causes derailment

On EZ track manual turnouts the points are held solidly in place, therefore you have to operated them both at the same time.  The ones electorally activated use a spring wire to hold the points and that allows the wheels to push the points aside.  Hope this answered your question.

I upgraded the transformer on my outdoor Malibu light and now use the old one for lighting.  Works great with plenty of amps.  For multiple turnouts on the same snap switch or with snap relays I use a door bell transformer with multiple lugs for various voltages.

Yes, volume is controlled by a CV that you can reprogram with the Dynamis.

Don't forget you still need to install a speaker.  Might well be worth looking at the new Bachmann 2-6-0 for about $100 or so.

Just as a guess I'd say the locos need 22" min radius

It's the Hornby Select............  meets EMC requirements.  I think we're out of luck.

Thanks

Here's one for all you in the UK.  My grandson in the UK has the Hornby Digital controller.  I was thinking about sending him several of my US Bachmann Locos with the 2 function decoders.  Will they be compatible?  He's dad is over on this side of the pond right and I'll send them back with him if they will work.

Thanks to all.

I have a BLI 2-8-2 that won't move until I throttle up to at least speed step 27 even though I have v-start set at 2 due to the voltage needed for that decoder.

According to the card that came with diesel:

F1......bell on and off
F2......Horn
F3......coupler crash
F4......cooling fans on/off
F5......dynamic brake on/off
F6......initiate doppler effect
F7......Squealing brakes/flange and air brakes
F8......audio mute on/off
F10....verbal read out speed in scale mile
Also mine has a volume control reed switch that you can adjust volume with a magnetic wand
Hope this helps

General Discussion / Paint Mixer
September 18, 2011, 01:11:13 AM
I thought I'd share this idea with you all.  Don't know if anyone else thought of this but me being the type of person who always looks for the easy way of doing things this works great.  When ever I had to mix those small bottles of paint there was always clumps of the pigment not mixed.  I tried a mixing wand on a cordless drill but only did a fair job not to mention the the paint wasted on the mixer.  (A real tight a..).  Then I thought about real paint mixers I've used at Home Depot.  I used old saw blades and my quick change cordless reciprocal  saw.  My god did it do a great job.  No clumps at all and only took 5 seconds.  Even on bottles that have sat a long time.

General Discussion / Re: Dynamis Compatability

Spacejammed,

Besides running more feeders you can also cut power consumption to the locos not being used by muting the sound on the Bachmann's by hitting F6 and turning the light off, with QSI's double tap F9 3 times to power loco down and double tap F6 to power up.  I have the Dynamis and have run 4 sound loco's at one time plus several more idling at the shop or sidings with no problem with power loss.
