John,

all Peco track is made from UV resistant/stabilised materials.

You don't specify where you are located, so what are your climate conditions?

and why not think about having a semi-portable layout, laying tracks on boards which brought indoors for the worst of the weather? Like using shelf brackets down a fence?

Ebtnut

you missed the Kennebec Central in your listing of the Maine Two Footers, Bridgton does not have an "e" in it, and the B&B was in Massachusetts,

Two of the Maine Two Footers (B&SR/B&H, and the Monson) made it into the 1940's, survived the WW2 scrap drive and formed the basis of the collection firstly at Edaville and now at Portland.

There are active Yahoo groups for those interested, and a spinoff group to scratchbuild build On2/On30 stock has just been started. See the posting under the On30 heading for more info,

Also, remember that two foot gauge cars tended to be as long or longer than a lot of three foot gauge equipment, so there's likley to be more overhang to the inside at center and more swing-out of the ends on curves with scale two foot equipment.

Example of true scale 2 foot passenger car on very sharp radius track illustrating above shown at http://maineon2faq.fotopic.net/p27032763.html

Enjoy!

Previously every village was a few minutes out on the other because of the inaccuracy of the local village clockmaker's timepiece.

Seasaltchap,

the above is not correct. The real reason was that each place determined noon time locally by when the sun was directly overhead.
