I use # 4 insulfrog turnouts No prpblem The 45 is a little shorter than the 44 & the 45 tom is night & day in slow speed to the 44 ton  & those drive rods are great to watch!! T have all 3  70 ton the worst runner 44 ton next & the 45 ton  the BEST!!! by far!!

The 45 ton DCC  is the best running loco out of all of them !! I use it on a small 4 ' x 12" layout  it's great! Don't forget that is still a spectrum model, better pick ups ! really slow speed Too!

The parts for these decoders is  no more then  20 bucks ! A curved turnout dosen't cost 20.00 more to make but they charge it!!! These things they no they can really mark up if you want them!!!

 It  sucks that you can buy a wireless phone for next to nothing but a a sound card for this loco is 140 bucks!!!!

Will we see the day when somebody make a sound card for the 45 ton loco ( with out mods) Cllearly when they made this loco they left a spot for a speaker , now someone needs to poduce a sound card for it!!!

They all a brand new Loco's & the spectrum is so much smoother at slower speeds !!!!

I have a new spectrum 45 ton (DCC) It runs great go's over the the inslufrogs & crossovers great! The new 44 ton & 70 ton are bachmann regular DCC loco's . they have problems doing the same thing you have to keep the speed up!!! is it the motors or pickups ?? how can you make the run smoother???

They both are bachmann, 44 ton came with DCC  45 ton came with DCC  , this  is a spectrum series, the 44 ton is regular bachmann. It's hot that it doesn't run it just stops in spots & the 45 ton run like a clock all the time!!  I use & MRC controller.

I got to tell you it's not the turnout it's the loco ! I have a 45 ton it runs so muck smoother & go threw the insulfrog turnout with no problem!

I.m using MRC I only a 5' x 2' swithing layout it stalls on all turnouts even on the sidings never did with DC bright  boy the rails still bad !! cleaned the loco wheels   NG !! using #14 bus wire  # 20 fraaders & solder all the track conections , Runs fine id dc

I have a 44 ton dcc loco , I was run it in dc & it ran fine  i bought dcc & run it runs like junk stopping on the track, have to push it all the time to start it again !!! I almost wish I didn't buy dcc  any help??
