HO / Re: EZ Track Turnouts
December 16, 2011, 05:57:34 PM
Also a good tool I used was Anyrail.com .The program has a good data base of Bachmann EZ Track . The program will only allow you 50 pcs  ,then if you want to go farther you can buy the rest of the program . But the 50 pcs was plenty . When I was configuring some complex diversions I used the software to fit and see what pieces I would need before getting frustrated ,trying to fit #5's together or the standards to get a good double oval or a switching yard type scenario . due to I didn't do the math and the geometry or really plan a layout . I just started buying track and having fun . You pick your piece they attach together then you can right click your mouse and you have the rotate ,delete ,disconnect and so forth option . If you do use the software and you see and use the track data base .And it come across the top half of your screen .Just click the track icon and you will see the Bachmann track with a check in the box . Just uncheck the box and it will go away .until you need the track portion again.

If I remember correctly your turnout should have come with a 2 1/4 straight piece of track . If you look underneath the road bed of that piece you will see diagonal scores that you can remove for right and left fits . If you do not have this piece yes you will have to modify a piece to fit hope this helps .

Large / Re: remote control systems of new england
December 13, 2011, 09:23:23 PM
Thanks for the replies .As I have found a couple of techs here in Houston ,they do mostly sound installations and decoder's .And the one guy who did the sound on my F-3 did a nice clean installation ,he said he has done a few remote and battery installations but I didn't feel to confident . he didn't really give me to many other options . And kept insisting on a trail car with the battery's in the trail car and if I can get away with out doing that .I would prefer them installed in the loco itself . That's why I was impressed with Mr Sweets install on the NW-2 . I just want to operate for a couple of hours pull a 7 to 8 car string . And not have to bring out the power all the time .  I will give him a call this week .

Thanks again regards mark f

Large / remote control systems of new england
December 13, 2011, 01:06:36 PM
Has anybody here used this company or know Don Sweet that does the installs .I'm looking at putting Remote control and battery power in my F-3 diesel . And will have to ship my Locomotive up to I believe New Hampshire from Houston . I looked at their website and prices . http://www.remotecontrolthrottles.com/About_Us/about_us.shtml

I saw an NW-2 Installation in one of the pictures on the installation page . I also have an NW-2 and can't decide on which engine to convert . Due to weight and size ,and the F-3 having Phoenix sound PB-11 board installed already . worried about it possibly getting smoked due to running battery power . Any info will help

. You gang them together , will be male prongs on the left and female prongs on the rightside of the switch ,join them altogether .Then take your green 3 wire connector cable "I also believe they come with extention cables the green ones" from your turnout to your switch box . Then take the 2 wire red cable and go from the farthest left switch to your accessory side of your controller . the cables are unsightly but you can , if your layout is permanent slot holes in your table and run your wires underneath to your switches and controller . I had at first a couple of the cables running under a few pcs of ez track on the layout when I first started and had uncoupling problems because of the hump . You can take a small file and notch a spot in the road bed  if need be . hope this helps happy holidays

connect the control boxes together, side by side....then connect the  fixed (or accessory) AC from the power pack to the control box on the end (left).  Then wire each box to one turnout with the three wire cable.  Bachmann publishes a very nice book that explains all about working with EZ Track....and has plans for several layouts.  Your Local Hobby Shop should have it.  Good Luck.

Depends on the scale N HO ON30 G .

After looking threw this thread . I went to the Houston Craigslist and in the box in the upper left, typed trains. And saw some HO and Lionel stuff and the prices they were asking made me laugh . 45 pcs of HO rolling stock ,and this guy had this collection for years $500.00 but he would drop the price 10% each week if no one responded .The Lionel stuff $825.00 for some old Lionel rolling stock still in the boxes , but again was like wow . Also an add , a separate Lionel Tender looked kinda beat up for $100.00 and a dairy box car for $50.00 . I have been thinking of selling off some of my HO stuff and some of my G Scale track and rolling stock and know I'm not going to be able to make a house payment with the money I get . In another forum I was trying to sell some aristo craft stuff and put my price and got some rather good guidance on how to price it if I was going to sell . So why sell your Toy's off when your just gonna be stuck with it and take the chasting and finding out you have nothing but a keep sake . If I wouldn't have went on a buying spree and actually thought about what I wanted instead of what look neat and flashy .I wouldn't have everything I have and needing to sell some of it off to make room . And could have saved alot of money leason learned

General Discussion / Re: question about R/C trains

What I want is a battery operated radio controlled large scale engine . As for bringing my track in .I usually set it up on a Friday and run threw the weekend when I do run them  . Due to sticky fingers ,With copper and brass being a high commodity for some I just don't trust leaving my track outdoors in the area I live in .I just don't want to chance it . When I finish my indoor layout in large scale I will consider DCC .it will be 8x 14ft. I think I posted a picture of it before .  Inner and outter loop with a coaling loop on the upper level .

General Discussion / question about R/C trains
November 06, 2011, 09:00:37 PM
Why hasn't Radio Controlled Trains equip and installed taken off here in the US . I looked and looked and looked and see you can buy and do expensive installs or you can by some cheap Lionel flyer set or some thomas set for kids . I saw the Newqida G-scale Bullet Train and they also have a steamer , a knock off LGB at our LHS the other day ,I was somewhat Impressed for what it was . they were selling it for 250.00 US and found one online , the Bullet Train. The only one in the US for 150.00 US aniline. I did see different type's in China and Europe that were available mostly steamers but they looked so cheap .
But what I'm getting at is why can't Aristo or USA or even Bachmann put a good quality radio controlled loco steamers and diesels on the market for the consumer . This bugs me as I'm getting a major surgery Wednesday and was looking for something simple, so I could run on my outdoor railroad so I wasn't having to bring my track in all the time . And just go out on the patio have my wife put the loco on the tracks and be medicated and run trains to pass time . My USA GP40 I was looking at equipping it for radio controll and a battery car almost 700.00 US plus sound another 240.00 US for sound . MY F-3 AB unit with sound loco's and phoenix sound little over 800.00 US . If anyone one knows where I can get a good R/C 1/29th large scale loco let me know ...
