Watch this video. Jack Lynch from Bachmann shows the prototypes and also demonstrates the new 16 bit sound. It is at about 8:45 into the video.

December 29, 2012, 11:58:19 PM
OKAY EVERYONE, SHARE WITH US WHAT WILLIAMS by BACHMANN TRAIN YOU GOT  OR PURCHASED FOR SOMEONE ELSE THIS CHRISTMAS.  My wife bought me an A-B-A set of Pennsy Baldwin RF-16 Sharks!! As usual, they are awesome runners with nice detail. ;D

Two sets of Williams by Bachmann Pennsy diesels side by side on my layout. A pair of ALCO FAs on the right and my new Sharks on the left. AWESOME!!!!

I know the caboose pictured below is not a Williams product but I thought that I would share it anyhow. My son Matthew bought it for me for Christmas and I think that it goes well with my new Sharks!!!

Fred,
Sorry that it took me a while to reply to your questions. First, my layout measures 8'6" x 13'10" and is in a "U" shape. Second, To reach the track along the rear wall for cleaning or any derailments I climb up on the layout. I built it to be very sturdy, so I can do this. Fortunately I have not had to climb up on the layout too many times to clean up any wrecks. Third, I like your idea of having a sub-roadbed to quiet the noise of trains running. My layout is VERY noisy when running! But, I like it that way.
I hope this helps. I will try to include some more photos. ;D

Lee,
Yes the locomotives are F3 A-B-A's by Williams. I have a seven car set of Santa Fe passenger cars which are from the MTH Railking line.

I really wish that Williams by Bachmann would seriously consider selling their die-cast tenders as a seperate sale item next year. The tender offered with the WbB Small Hudsons and Berkshires is a nice substantial piece. I am sure that I am not the only one who would purchase a seperate sale tender to replace/retire their 2046W Lionel tender. I think that the Williams tender is an awesome piece. I bought a Williams Small Hudson a couple of years ago and the tender that came it with is just super! ;D What do you think Mr. Bach-Man? You could offer the tender as a seperate sale item and aim it at Lionel Post-War steamers as a replacement or update. Maybe offer it in three or four roadnames per year? PRR, NYC, ATSF, B&O, etc. You guys probably know what would sell. ;)

Here is a WbB Pennsy Hudson I own on my layout. NICE TENDER!!!

Below is a closer up view of the Williams tender.

The Lionel steam loco in the back row has the 2046 tender which I feel now looks rather small compared to a Williams tender. ;D

I agree with Dominic on this. More power is the answer. When I replaced my ancient Lionel KW transformer with a new MTH Z-4000 model transformer I noticed a world of difference. I now have plenty of power to run my dual motored Lionel and Williams locomotives. I also have an A-B-A set of Williams by Bachmann Baldwin RF-16 Sharknose diesels which I have noticed no problems with.

In this photo my Pennsy Alco from Williams have just croosed the arch bridge and have taven the switch track to go through the busy junction as my ancient 675 steamer from Lionel (1949) waits.

And in this photo two Pennsy units are meeting on the arch bridges, a eastbound freight and a westbound passenger train.

In my opinion my WbB small Hudson is an extremely nice locomotive. It runs great and looks awesome. I like the traditional sized and featured locomotives and I especially like the large die-cast tender with this locomotive!
