I just bought a new standard line 4-8-4 and it runs great, i would like to convert it to dcc. Is there a walk through with pictures for this loco? The biggest problem i think i am going to have is keeping the drivetrain together during dissasembly. Then getting it back  in quarter.

N / 4-8-4 j tender

Does anyone know if Bachmann sells just the tender for the Norfolk and Western J? I purchased the other 4-8-4 and i want to make it a different roadname but the Rock Island tender is just too big.

N / Dummy engines

The question is, would you rather have a dummy in tow behind powered unit to house the speaker and like a soundbug or other sound only decoder? I have something similar with the gp40 set that came out with the dummy engine.  Has anyone seen these sets recently?

N / Re: Why not more standard-sized passenger cars?

We do need more fairly priced passenger cars, but it seems to fall on deaf ears. Fairly priced means lets say eighteen dollars a piece, not thirtytwo dollars a piece.

Yea as far as the car lighting goes , i had to use Easy Peasy light kit but had to shorten that also.  Two solder connections, pretty easy.

You know, its really sad that you have to build coaches this way, if Bachmann would just listen to its customers then we would have what we need to make a decent passenger consist. I had to do the same thing you are doing a couple years ago. The way you are describing it is exactly the way i did mine. You know what they say if you hand make one then it will come out in production. Personally i think the price of passenger cars now is nuts, thirty six dollars a piece cmon.
