Bob,

I agree with you 100%! Word, aka rumor, is that if MMI can get all the info they need that they will do an EBT mike or mikes. I would love to see Bachmann offer the EBT #11 in On30. I also agree that 11's size would be great for any on30 layout and it would fit in most all the On30 layout freelanced "schemes."

Dusten,

I would LOVE to see an EBT mike done by anyone.   I would especially love to see Bachmann do them as my Bachmann locos are the best that I own in On30,  including my two MMI K27s.
However,  I would be extremely surprised to see Bachmann do such a large engine.    Let me suggest a possible EBT engine to do in On30.   #11 was a 2-6-2.   This engine disappeared from the EBT sometime around WWII and its fate is unknown.   But......the size of the engine would make it a great selection in On30.

On30 / Re: Beware That New Krylon Spray Paint

If you use Krylon paints and seal in the decals with their matte, beware of their change in paint formulas. The new paints, Indoor/Outdoor, are in the cans with the taper cap and the new spray nozzle; these are enamel paints. If you use Matte Finish to seal in the decals, this is a lacquer base. The results can be wrinkling to the point of ruin. Krylon now only makes the enamel clear in a gloss (useless to me) --- no flat is currently being made. The only possible matte is their water based matte finish but I haven't found it on the shelves, yet. So be careful and do a trial spray first, I didn't and I am sorry now. Lee in Tucson.

I used the new dark green gloss with the new clear gloss (both indoor/outdoor with tapered caps and new nozzles) and every time I sprayed over the the green (even after letting it dry for days) with the new gloss clear it wrinkled the green to all heck. I have since switched to Testors gloss cote and have not had anymore trouble when spraying it over the new Krylon dark green gloss. Point is, beware of the new Krylon clear coat also and ALWAYS test first!!!

   Hey Guys,
I just want to explain my 1st post on this topic. I am not complaining
about the On30 products being offered to us, rather questioning the AVAILABILITY of the products to the public.
I live near 2 cities of almost 100,000 people ea. which lies between 2 much larger cities, I must now travel, close to an hour, to these 2 larger cities to purchase ANY On30 products from a retailer or hobby shop.
This Christmas season I waited & watched all the stores who carried
On30 in the past & none put any on the shelves this year. No sets from Retailer's & no sets or other products to the couple LHS's who always carried some On30.
This truly concerns me, and it doesn't vote well for the future of the On30
line of products. One may say it's starting to fade away by lack of AVAILABILITY. I truly hope I am wrong.

still try to enjoy,
Barry

Barry,

It all depends where you live and what/where the shops are that you're going to. On30 is not as mainstream as HO or that 3-rail stuff and the stores you are going to sound to me like big box type stores that don't think it's worth it to have it because the people that shop there, other than you, are not interested in On30. Try checking local train shows and also check online shops. I, for one, specialize in On30 through my website (www.nateslightironhobbies.com) and there are many others, like myself, that are On30 modelers as well as retailers that are promoting On30. I can name a few more online stores, that I can think of off the top of my head right now, that sell Bachmann On30 models as well and they will all ship directly to you...

Peterboro RR
Warrior Run Loco Works
Crusader Rail Services

Check them out, they're all nice people that will be more than welcome to help you out.

All I wanted for Christamas was a 2-6-2, a 2-6-2, a 2-6-2 (come on, sing it with me).  Seriously, a Prairie modeled after WW&F #6, or even one modeled after SR&RL #24 shouldn't be too much of a stretch for Bachmann, considering all of the mechanisms they already have in production.  One can always hope.................   John Tumolo  Britcarfan@aol.com

John,

Think more along the lines of EBT #11 or a logging 2-6-2! Although, I must admit I do love the Maine two foot OF 2-6-2's as well, too many darn choices. :-P

Nathan - there is a kit avialable for the EBT caboose in O scale so I doubt you'll see one in plastic from Bachmann. It would be bigger than the other On30 stuff. It seems that Bachmann trend is to do small prototypes.

Yes, I realize that, however, it would be nice to have an RTR model and they already make one in their large scale Big Hauler line so why not go ahead and make it in On30? That's the only reason I mentioned it. It wouldn't be bigger than the other On30 stuff they make, alot of the other On30 stuff they make is to 3' gauge dimensions just like the EBT. Honestly, I'm not a big fan of their current On30 center cupola caboose, I'd prefer their large scale Big Hauler caboose in On30 instead, I like the looks of it alot better, I'm not sure why they didn't just go with this idea from the start.

The EBT's outside braced steel boxcars are pretty nice
cars, and the only US mainland narrow gauge steel cars,
to my knowledge.  The 2 EBT cabooses are pretty nice, too.

Not to mention Mikados (especially No. 12)

I'll second Lee on this, I'd like to see steel EBT boxcars, also steel EBT flats and an EBT caboose.

On30 / Re: The long lost EBT 2-6-2 #11
November 22, 2008, 04:53:58 PM
I had heard, rumor only at this point, that MMI (Precision Scale's die cast division) would be willing to make an EBT 2-8-2 in On3 and On30 if they could get drawings and information to do it. I doubt anything like this would come from Bachmann, especially considering the talk from MMI, as they are big engines that would seem to be out of Bachmann's typical smaller prototype offerings and would require a larger On3 size radii. I just don't think it would sell well for them because it would only appeal to a very limited market. Also btsrr.com makes an On3 and On30 kit of #12 however I'm sure MMI's would be cheaper and RTR with factory paint to boot and BTS's supply of them is very erratic.

On30 / The long lost EBT 2-6-2 #11
November 18, 2008, 12:05:02 AM
Hello Mr. Bach-man,

I have a request to be considered, I have had the EBT's 2-6-2 #11 on my mind alot lately and I would really like to see it produced in On30. I'd like to see it not only as an EBT fan but, personally, I think it is a neat little engine and I think it could be a big hit in the On30 world and I think it would look great on any On30 railroad.  What does everyone else think? Maybe with enough interest we can get one of these.

Mr. Bach-Man

Thank you for your reply. I understand these things happen, nothing you could do to prevent it. I was just curious, that's all. As long as you guys keep cranking out On30 trains I guarantee I'll be having fun! Keep up the good work!

On30 / Price increase?
September 01, 2008, 10:37:39 PM
Mr. Bach-Man,

Has there been a price increase recently? If so, when did this occur? I ask because I just saw MSRP's jumping on items last time I checked. For instance the IF 4-4-0 from $310 to $330, sound locos from $435 to $460, Davenports from $110 to $115, DC locos from $275 to $290, and increases on most all other On30 items. I do not see this in the Bachmann online catalog though. What's the story? Thank you.

On30 / Re: Forney/DCC sound question

Ok, problem solved, it was the old power pack that was the issue, I forgot I had a trainset with a Bachmann power pack and I tried it with that and it worked great as new. Thanks to all who replied.

The power pack I'm using is an older tyco, I don't have a newer one at the moment as I just use it for testing, could that be part of the problem?

Ok, that's what I thought, now, here's the real problem, I put it on my module that runs on dcc, I have 18.4 volts at the track and all I get is a little momentary noice/crackle on from the speaker when I get past a certain point on the throttle, no motion, no sound. What's wrong with it?
-Nathan

Quote from: Tomcat on July 21, 2008, 11:28:07 PM
Nathan,

there is no problem to do so. When I got it right, sound on DC should be still operational, but no whistle, bell etc. But anyway, you canĀ“t do anything wrong about this, just place her on the track and get going. The Soundtraxx Decoders will work on DC as well.
(Actually, Soundtraxx produces the Sound Decoders -Tsunamis- for Bachmann...)

Kind regards, Tom

On30 / Forney/DCC sound question
July 21, 2008, 11:18:06 PM
Mr. Bach-man or anyone else out there,
I have A Forney with DCC and sound. I've been running it on dc and it works fine and then I was running it on dcc and it works fine. What I want to know is now that it's been run on DCC can I go back to running it on dc right away (just plop it on the track and go like before) or is there something special I must do first? I'm new to dcc, I only know about systems and decoders available but not much on the technical end of things. Thanks in advance.

Yahoo used to have a group comprised of Bachmann forum members and other individuals who seemed to be quite astute in things On30.

They still do, the On30 Conspiracy, check it out here...<http://groups.yahoo.com/group/On30conspiracy>
