Your local Harbor Freight store has a nice one.

Just looked at mine, capacity of 17.64 oz.  This scale will also show weight in grams.

Carefully rotate the drawbar 90 degrees to the engine, then gently work the drawbar off of the post on the engine.  The post and the hole in the drawbar are roughly oval shaped.

I can't speak in specifics here, but the sickly yellow headlight is probably due to Bachmann not yet discovering the 'golden white' led.  My connie runs much slower than several (most) of my other engines, but i consider that as a plus; most N scale engines run waaay too fast.

Faster isn't always better.  Nearly all the hood units you see are geared for 60-65 mph top speed.  Your models already capable of WAY more than that.
The HHP-8 'mud missle' can run up to 125 mph, and again, your model is capable of more than that.

Nah, I just get lucky sometimes...

Since your noise is speed related, I'd be looking at a dry bearing.  Most likely one of the motor bearings, but remember that a little (plastic compatible) oil goes a long ways!

Not trying to hijack the thread, but the DZ123 is rated at 1 amp., however it has been superceded by the DZ125, also with a 1 amp rating.

No longer needed.  I believe it was for RFI noise suppression.

General Discussion / Re: NEW MEMBER NEED DCC HELP
April 05, 2009, 05:20:41 AM
Well then I guess you gave me an opening for my new DCC rant![rant]
I recently got a new Atlas engine from an estate sale and Saturday, installed an NCE decoder (from Litchfield Station).  I haven't been a rabid supporter of brand D, N ,or T decoders, but Digitrax's hard wired decoders are smaller than NCE's and their PnP boards have been the best (for me) choice for my small fleet.  This time, NCE had a good PnP choice, and I took it.  First thing I did was look through the instruction sheets.  Wow!  Four pages of easy to comprehend instructions!  I installed the decoder with no major drama or trauma. then decided to play a bit.  Before I snapped the shell back on, I wanted to see if the FX lighting was as  easy as it looked.  It is!  Following the chart, you can just program CV121 ((F1, or rear light) for this experiment) to the number on the chart (plus 128 for LED light), hit enter, and watch the effect.  Don't like it?  Ten seconds later, you can be watching a different one.
What I'm trying to get at here, is that while I'm sure that Digitrax's procedure is similar, I've never noticed anything on their instruction sheets to give any sort of confidence in that direction.
If I haven't put everyone to sleep, and if you are trying to decide what your major brand of DCC components is to be, RTFM(s).  There can be a world of difference in ease of use between similar products. [/rant]

Jim, I think you missed seeing my tongue planted firmly in my left cheek during that comment!
I've done the DC wiring thing for a couple of two cab layouts and the major difference(s) with a four cab layout would be, what, rotary switches for every block, and wiring to them from each of the added cabs.
Nah, I'll stick with DCC (NCE) and drive trains.

Yeah, setting up a DCC system to support 4 cabs and a garage full of track is a whole lot more complicated than using DC...

I may be wrong about the basic Prodigy's capabilities, but being able to change CVs is something you REALLY want; maybe not this month, but you will wish you had the ability.  Save your pennies if you have to, but buy something better, one of the other Prodigys, a Zephyr, or NCE Powercab.
#58
Even the basic Prodigy will allow you to tweak CVs that you can use to fine tune your locos.  Setting starting voltage, top speed, lighting effects, etc. just aren't possible on the EZ Command.
#59
You are looking for CV #'s 2(Vstart), #5(Vhigh), and 6(Vmid).  The Bachmann decoders don't seem to support them.

Well DT,
It appears that your opinion doesn't carry much weight today...
That's okay, *I* agree with you!
