On30 / Re: Colorodo Roads

I have allways thought the RGS 4-6-0 was the alltime favorite of modelers second only to the K-27. but I guess I was wrong, everyone keeps arguing the radius issue. face it a real narrow gauge railroad that had the equilvant of the curves we use would have been a small minning tram pulled by mules.
If Bachmann would change the direction of the door opening on the box car then we could squeeze them in as a early Colorado box car without a lot of squinting.  I think when most of us were for the ET&WNC 4-6-0 on this board it was because we were under the impression that it could be easily converted to a RGS ten wheeler,ain't being ugly but how many folks model the tweetsie?  I guess it kinda like all those OR&W box cars running around with C&S logos to match the mogul. Bachmann don't take me wrong but help us out here please! just a thought ;D

The 2-4-4T produced by Bachmann are massive engines compared to the little Forneys that once graced the rails of Maine.

It would be hard to beat the small Forneys. the only thing better would be Mason Bogies.

So was the boiler just paited gun metal blue or was it American iron similar to russian iron. I seem to have read somewhere that the crews polished them.

                                                                      Thanks ::)

On30 / narrow gauge downunder
November 06, 2008, 05:42:15 PM
Today I was at my LSH and noticed a interesting magazine called "narrow gauge downunder"  Boone Morrisions new On3 4-4-0 is on the cover.
I highly recomend this magazine to anyone into narrow gauge and for you folks that like turn of century then you will love the color spread by David Fletcher covering the South Australian Railway "X" class 2-6-0 Baldwin circa 1880,in olive green.   man thats beautiful!!! hmmmmmmm think I will build one of those, now if Bachmann will just build a Puffing Billy. ::)

On30 / Re: 4-4-0 and 2-6-6-2 in On30 to be produced

The only thing that the two Bachmann 4-4-0's have in common with the MMI 4-4-0 is the wheel arangement.

the MMI 4-4-0 is a model of the common Baldwin 4-4-0 produced for narrow gauge railroads, not just the Rio Grande.

The Bachmann engines are models of industrial engines that are either too small to haul freight or a exported industrial engine that only ran in Brazil.

I have purchased two of the Bachmann 4-4-0's to use on my 1880 Colorado Central type operation. this engine probably could handle 4 to 5 20 foot cars like the original C.C.R.R. 0-4-0 Souther locomotives.

If you guys can afford it the MMI 4-4-0 will be the most beautiful engine made in On30. shame Bachmann did not respond to the call.
