That is a very good video.  Brings the point home about safety and not very expensive!  However, the other videos there, although some were funny, aren't such a good thing.  I think I see where to other post came from!  Stephen

I elected to not use drywall, however a friend uses it, among other things, for subroadbed.  That said, his layout is, while large, on one level so everything is supported by plywood and heavy benchwork.
I'm not sure if he has tried to scenic anything on the drywall section.   I would assume he'd waterproof it first.

(BTW, can anybody find the supposed grammatical error?)  ;D

"subroadbed"?

Athearn is offiering a snow plow.  It is not quite the same as the Walthers.  I have one but it still turns like the above description while on DC.  However it does make a nice run on DCC!

Jim, the blade, even on DCC, does not turn that fast.  Still looks good though.           Stephen

Stewart,  got it.  Sorry but for some reason that completely went over my head.  Thanks for reminding me.  Stephen

Hello woundedbear,  good to have you aboard!

Stewart, asparagus tea?  Sounds good.  What part of the plant do you use?        Stephen

I've used both together to test both DC and DCC engines.  Looks strange but works fine!  Stephen

Hoople,
I apologize for my lack of clarity.  I was more or less trying to tell you in a tactful way that it would not make good business sense to make the deal you are seeking.  I can "guarantee" they would need to get their money out of it!

Gene,
You are correct as usual, in your very articulate manner!  I apologize to the board also for confusing things worse than they were!   Stephen

Brad,  that's a good idea!  I was considering something a lot less than Jim but you gave me a real good idea to try!  You not only need mass for a flywheel but the bigger the diameter of the flywheel the smoother it wil operate (in theory)  Centifugal force that may be redirectd to centripetal force.  Basically turning the force generated from the larger diameter flywheel and turning it back on itsef to the driveshaft!  Turn a cone shaped Flywheel and place it in the area of the driveshaft!  I don't know if it will work but sounds like it's worth a try.  When I can get back home I'm going to try that.  I have several old steam locos for refit.    Thanks,   Stephen

HO / Re: Question about wood for HO kits

Either one but boiled is easier to use.  Just make sure it is dry then take four ought  (0000) steel wool and card (rub the daylights out of it) until smooth.  Use a chamie (Appalachian for Chamois) cloth or cotton with vey light mist of water to remove dust.  Let dry.  Works great on the wood I work with!  Takes several coats but you just have to judge the results by eye!    Stephen

How about sending in the defective loco, with your 20.00 and buying a new one with sound!  That way you get two locos.  The cost difference will probably be the same anyway!  Just a though.  Stephen

Did you turn the shaft and flywheel yourself?  Looks very good!   Stephen

Outstanding suggestions here!  And (as the old folks say, that's me!) if push comes to shove, try linseed oil.  Can be coated as much as you want.  Just make sure it is dry and sand smooth between coats.  I use that process on fancy gunstocks.  Nice hard, durable and smooth finish!  Stephen

Some of the prototypical loggers would often put the large tool boxes on the roof of the cab.  It's just a thought!    Stephen

Go to the top of the web page here and click on Service/Parts.  Call that number and dial in the extension number.  I've never had any problems doing it that way.
