To the original poster, Hornby do not sell their Thomas products in the USA due to liscence issues. Both ranges are to the same scale, but as The Bach-Man has said, Hornby used existing toolings for their range, bar Percy and Edward.

You will probably be able to get normal Hornby items though...

Yeah, I know I can get normal Hornby items over here in the U.S.. I went to Bachmann's find a retailer, and found a retailer in Washington state. Maybe one day if I go there, I can buy some items and build some models of my own.

I recently watched a video and it obviously had both Hornby and Bachmann frieght cars. I seen that OO gauge is 1:76 or something like that and HO is 1:87. In the video, I noticed that there was practically no difference in size. I was just wondering, because if I find a Hornby retailer in the USA I might buy some stuff from there.

HO / E-Z Command DCC Turnouts
March 04, 2009, 07:20:47 PM
Under the E-Z Command/DCC category on the products page, there are
E-Z Command DCC Turnouts. Under the product information, at the very bottom, it says not designed for DC powered layouts. Does anyone know why these can't be used on DC powered layouts, and will they atleast connect to normal E-Z Track?

If you could put a picture on here there will be a higher chance someone will find out what it's worth.

HO / Re: Switching to N scale

Thanks Bob. I've noticed N is less in price for most things. Although, why and how do you think steam is bad in N? I just wanted to know because I was thinking about buying Bachmann's Empire Builder for my forst N set if I get one.

HO / Switching to N scale
March 01, 2009, 05:00:06 PM
I've been thinking about starting to but N scale trains. I know this is the HO scale topic, but I put this under here because 1). More people read forums on this scale. 2). I am still going to collect HO, but I might start to collect N. So if anyone can gve me detail for N that would be great. Also, if I start to collect N, I'll be collecting 3 scales now, and all in order with size. N, HO, O.

Are you sure you're not talking about 18" radius curves Zelda? I seen that the recommended minimum radius for the express coaches is 22". Obviously that's for appearance, and it can run on 18". I don't think they can run on 15", but I don't have any, so I probably would'nt know.

I agree with Alex. Obviously the big engines like Henry and Gordon won't be able to. Percy definetly, Thomas maybe, possibly Toby, and like Alex said, some 4 axle trucks. All the other engines, probably not.

I read somewhere that one guy's HO locomotive had smoke, and the heat from the generator melted the plastic funnel! :P

So then is the Great Western Railroad real? Sorry, but I don't live in the U.K., which is why I wouldnt know. ;)
Time to do some research then. :P The Great Western Railway (Great Western Railroad is an American railroad...) was one of the big four in Britian before Nationalization. It also holds off for having the most (as far as I know) preserved engines.

Oh, I didnt know that the Great Western Railroad is American, and that the Great Western Railway is actually real :P

Jack,

I realize there are more Pannier tanks than Duck, but if you look closely, you can see the letters GWR. Sparks, forgot that you can buy them off E-Bay :P

Dude,

Do you live in the U.K. or the U.S.?  Just wondering because you had Atlas track, and what I think I saw was a Duck model.  If you live in the U.K., where did you get Atlas track, and if you live in the U.S., where did you get the Duck model, because it looks like Hornby's ( since that's the only model train manufacturer that makes a Duck model so far :P).

I have Bachmann's graduated pier set, and the E-Z Track fits just under the top track, and inbetween the two piers.  I got them for a cheap price of $20. ;)

If you ever decide to expand your layout, Bachmann's Special Forces set is a nice one.  Here's a link to one for $50.http://www.modeltrainstuff.com/product_p/bac-00652.htm
