Hi Bob,

You can replace the loco dummy couplers with operating couplers, but the distance between the next unit will increase by 3/4".  Our service department has operating coupler assemblies available.

Dear All,

The name calling posts have been deleted.  Keep on topic please.  We have used and are using these posts to make improvements to our Customer Service Department.  The months following the Holidays are always the busiest so a backlog usually grows.

We will continue to make improvements when possible.   Your constructive comments are welcome.

Hi Ron,

It seems no matter what we do, we can't win on this subject.  We first released locos in flat paint.  Then we went to high gloss.  We now are using a satin finish to try to please as many people as possible.

I have use both Testors gloss goat and Krylon Gloss coat without any problems.  Just put it on in thin coats until you get the desired result.

General Discussion / Re: Spell Checker

Jim,

That was funny.  I read that many years ago, but it is still a good laugh.

The spell checker is only a tool like a calculator is for math.  If you don't understand math the calculator is not much help.

What do you know! We have a spell check feature built in and it was never turned on!

Seems to work fine, just click on the button at the bottom of the posting box before you click post.

Joe,

The Loco is die-cast.   The tender has a plastic body with die-cast trucks.

Dominic,

No it does not have starts on the axles.

Thanks for the plug, NSthoroughbred.

We are a sponsor of the Holiday Festival of trains at the B&O Station Musuem in Ellicott City MD.  The trains run 8 hours a day 5 days a week from the day after Thanksgiving until the last week in January.  We have diesels that have been used on that layout for nearly ten seasons of running.  We have never replaced a diesel traction tire!

Hi Dominic,

The 2008 catalog used an old photo.  The number had been corrected to 4449 at least two production runs ago.

Here is a shot of our most recent production run with the 4449 cab number.

Hi Garfield,

They were the electronic horns.  They were a bascially a buzzer circuit.  You can try adjusting the two pots on the board.  Also these boards were designed before any electronically controlled transformers were available, so they are not compatible with most new transformers.  If you have an older Lionel transformer with a whistle button give that a try.

We phased out that board about 7 years ago, so replacements are not available; you would have to get a TrueBlast II.

Hi NSthoroughbred,

We monitor the OGR and other forums for ideas and comments all of the time. Some are good ideas and we may elect to do some of them.

Which ones? You will have to wait and see.

Hi Hamish ,

This will have to be a judgement call when something is posted.

In general we are not going to answer questions like is this allowed or is that allowed.  If you are unsure about something just don't post it.  If we don't like the post, we will delete or edit it. We will not ban anyone for making an honest mistake.  Just play nice and everything will be fine.
