Greg, all the ones you mentioned above fit the Bachmann PNP socket?

I have several Phoenix systems and have been pleased.  They have one for the Bachmann PNP but I have not bought one yet. Planning on it for my C19 and Climax, but it is DCC and sound.

Depends on which version of trucks you have.  The original ones were plastic and failed.  They came up with replacement die cast replacement one which are $225.   Try googling bachmann shay replacement trucks g scale.

No expert, but they will jump in.  I have both and like you didn't understand the difference at first.  Basically the Connie you have is based on a model from central or South America or something. Inside vs outside frame as I recall but beyond my understanding. The Connie has known gear issues.  At one point there was a guy who made a built proof fix (Barry's Big Trains) but he had age/medical issues and may have even passed.  Unfortunately I didn't get one of them and now you can't find them. The C19 is a later based on American release and has the newer bells and whistles. I've read a number of times that it was the pinnacle of the Bachmann engines.

Large / Re: Climax 81180 DCC ready?

The first run of Climax engines dd not have the board socket.  The second run did.  So it depends on the age. Have the person send you a pic of the bunker with the top off.  As I recall, there were also other upgrades with the second release.  I sold my 1st and bought a 2nd gen years ago.

Large / Here is what I think Bachmann should make in G
January 22, 2021, 10:34:40 PM
Ok, first of all, we know that Large scale is having some issues, as is the model railroading in general.  With our white knight long gone, the odds of getting much, let alone what I want, is slim to it ain't ever gonna happen. But a guy can hope.  Bachmann, are you listening?

What I think is needed is a specialty "car" that can get some attention but not be crazy expensive like a new engine.  Bachmann has been there, done that.  But what if you took something from the HO that's already been done, but scale it up.  What I'm thinking is doing the steam crane like what's been done in HO.  Yes, I would like to see it be an actual working one, but I'd settle for one that would allow the outside market create that part.  So create some Spectrum features (like they did the cabooses) with like some moving crane parts, or whatever.  Maybe a smoke unit in side?  Other suggestions?

I turned in my 2 amp unit and touched both rail on my work bench.  After reading the first post, I was shocked as shinola.  I felt nothing.  I was so disappointed.  I didn't even get the tingle like the old when drinking hold the handles while they crank up the juice to prove your manhood.

What was a good idea to start, turned into a drama machine that just wants to profile you like Google and the rest.  Don't waste my time on it.
