HO / Re: Quality of Orient Express locomotive

You bet.  Driving rods, wheels, axles and anything that moves will get a drop of oil.  I'll have to open the tender and no paperwork will come with the loco/tender but I hope I may be able to find some on HO SEEKER. Have a good one.  Thanks, Len

Thank you, Len for the insightful info and for staying on topic.  That don't always happen.  I went ahead and bought the loco and 4 cars $95.  I may be wrong but, if need be, it seems like replacing a motor in the tender would be easier than one in a locomotive.  I'd like to think there would be more area for "wiggle room" Thanks again.

Mr. Bach Man:
How about the shell of an old MONOPOLY 0-6-0 onto a new 0-6-0?
Are the shells easy to remove?

OK Great.  So now tell me about the locomotive.

HO / Quality of Orient Express locomotive

Looks like an interesting train set but I worry about the quality of a 25 year old locomotive.  A post I read said the loco was made by a company named Josef (?) not Bachmann. They are selling for upwards of $100, and without a reliable loco, that's too much.  One seller on E-bay wants $150 WITHOUT the locomotive, just the tender.  Any thoughts.

I just knew somebody would say it wasn't a "B" unit.  If you read the post you would note I indicated 4 axles, as opposed to a six axles, but you knew that.  Thanks anyway.

Its a "B" unit, 4 axles.  Long fuel tank, reaches almost to the trucks on both ends and 2 figures in the cab.  Can't tell actual wheel base.

There is a seller on e-Bay offering a Spectrum chassis that runs well but has no idea what shell fits on it.  Is there any way to tell by just looking?

Thank you Bach Man.  I'll give it a try.  Since I've never been to a Starbucks I'll have to track one down.  Just plain old coffee for me.  Thanks.

Makes sense - but how much turning do you do.  I'll have to practice.  Thanks.

I know this is a Bachmann site but I'm asking about an old LifeLike track cleaning caboose, item #08584.  I've looked all over, including HO Seeker, to find out what the little, turn-able, square thing is sticking out of the tank top.  What happens when it's turned? Did some kind of "key" originally came with this?  Just curious.

Thank you!  The guy on e-bay was listing it as HO. I thought is was 'G' but just wanted to be sure.

Did Bachmann make BIG HAULERS in HO Scale?

Thanks for the replies, but still not sure if it's for loading hoppers or trucks or if tracks go through it or it sits next to the track for trucks to load.  The above picture is the only one I've seen of this model and there is not much other information.  I would hope somebody at Bachmann would know what it is or where the prototype came from.
