HO / Re: Jonathan's Layout #3

I had the same feeling about ordering online as you do Jonathan but having to order our groceries that way all summer has made it seem easy.  Now my wife has to watch me like a hawk to keep me from ordering thousand dollar locomotives, or other frivolous things.  Glad you're back, Paul :)

Hey Jonathan, I had a feeling you might be doing the V bit.  This is the time of year for it.  That's certainly a neat old Ford your Dad has.
The photo I was referring to is in your "Welcome to my web site" (what do you call those things, anyway?).  The photo I saw showed one of your B&O connies on the turntable with a tender that looked like an original tender on a 900 series IC loco.  In other words, short. Never having been much of a draftsman I thought perhaps there might be a way to make one measurement and one cut so if I screwed up everything would tilt the same direction rather than four different directions at once.  In any case, if there is anything you can add to what Sid kindly offered I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks again, Paul

Please forgive me Sid, I had someone pressuring me to get off the computer and I didn't have time to think how best to word my post to include everyone as there are several of you who are highly skilled and could answer my questions.  You and anyone else who has something to share is welcome to join in.  Thanks very much.Paul G

Hey Jonathan, I was just looking at your website at all your neat pictures and ran across the side view of one of your great upgraded connies, the one on the turntable.  How, exactly, did you shorten that tender?  I get the basics, put it in a mitre box and use your mitre saw.  I have a Roundhouse passenger car that someone made by cutting two into and then combining them I found at a swap meet.  The things I don't understand are (1) where did you find that tall of a mitre box and (2) how did you attach the two halves of the tender base  together?  If you have a detailed set of photographs with instructions like you made on disassembling your connie that would be wonderful but most any info you have would be great.  Thanks in advance, Paul G

Hi Jonathan,  you've talked about running out of supplies, and I'm wondering if you've considered ordering on line?  I've gotten two orders from Micro Mark in the last few months and we've ordered other things as well.  Sometimes delivery has been slow at times but we always get what we order.  Just saying, P' :)

20 degrees, huh.  The Kibri and Atlas roundhouses are both fifteen.  I wanted the Thomas turntable at 10 inches is just enough longer than the Atlas to barely get the Bachmann connies to fit.  I don't know what to tell you Ken.  If I'm not logged on the post and reply buttons don't come up.  So far as how the messages print out I don't think I have any way of controlling that.  You are talking to the worlds biggest bozo regarding computers is concerned.  if it wasn't for the  name being printed on it I couldn't tell you what kind of computer I have.  Sorry. :)

I just looked again and noticed the top lefthand corner of of one photo with the front of an aircraft poking it's nose into the scene.  Is that a Spitfire?  That was one of the neatest looking fighters and along with the P-51 and the F4U the best allied fighters of WWII.

HO / Re: Request for new HO scale steam locomotive

Hey Bill (Searsport), when Roundhouse did bring back those 2-8-0,s the price I paid at Caboose Hobbies here in Denver was less than $100 for the non decoder equipped and around $170 for the one's with sound.  I have five.  I love my Bachmann ten wheelers, connie's, and Alco mogul's, (two with sound one without) as well.  What I really hoped Bachmann would make was the little connies the Ma & Pa had, #41 and 42.  There are so many great steamers that Bachmann has made, over the years and I do believe they are the reason why we've had and continue to have such a great selection of steamers.  Their current consolidation which started it all in the ninety's is a bit modern for the era I'm modeling but they run so well I'm trying to find some way to backdate the four I currently have. Regards,Paul G

Great work, Ken.  Are those aircraft lurking in the background?  A century or so ago, when I was young, I hung a Zero with a P-40 in hot pursuit from the ceiling of my bedroom.  It takes one back. :)
